The earthy, toasty, woody, nutty burley also has a very small amount of molasses and a hint of cocoa. The maple infused black cavendish is in the center of mild to medium. The perique is thirty percent of the blend, and offers some spice, plum and raisins, though the maple does mute it and the burley a little. It won’t taste like it’s thirty percent perique, but reveals enough of its inherent characteristics to add a little complexity to the mixture. The strength, nic-hit, and taste levels are mild. Won’t bite, and has no dull or harsh spots. Burns at a moderate pace, cool and clean with a very smooth consistent maple sweet and lightly spicy flavor as it easily burns to ash. Requires few relights, and leaves just a little dampness in the bowl, which isn’t the norm for many aromatic blends. The after taste is short lived, and both it and the room notes are pleasant. An easy going aromatic that makes a decent entry level product while providing enough depth to hold the interest of an experienced aro smoker.

This is a short chopped ribbon - mostly black. It is slightly more damp than the other St. Basil blends I have tried, and I smoked it as it arrived. Maybe 10 - 15% of the tobacco is a light tan. Pouch note is a mild maple and a little fruit.
It packs and lights as expected. Sometimes I get a slight chemical note with black cavendish when lighting, and I did not get any of that with this blend. I have found that I like perique in a mild aromatic and like the SWRA & OJK combo a lot. The perique works well with this one too. It gives a little heavy fruit that complements the maple. I can puff and get some spice. It is hard for me to identify the burley flavors here, but I am claiming it gives it some body. It burned well for me and was an easy, pleasant smoke. It did not smoke hot.
This is a good smoke and I have enjoyed it. It is easy to recommend.

A dark earthy blend with maple flavored cavendish as the star of the show. The perique is about a third of the blend and adds some fruit and light spice as well as nicotine that creeps up on you. It's not a soapy tasting aromatic like many are. Although the toasty sweet maple cavendish can come close at certain times. Doesn't leave your tongue irritated or bite like some aromatics either. Well blended with the burley adding a nice nutty element to the mix. Not exactly an aromatic for beginners but might be a good transition blend for intermediates into fuller natural blends. A nice change of pace for the experienced smoker who enjoys an aromatic. I'd be real interested to see how this smokes with some Kentucky added.
