The Virginias are fairly tart and tangy citrus sweet with a little tangy dark fruit, along with a bit of grass, earth, and a little floral wood and spice. The very mild floral note does weaken a little as you go along. The Virginias are the star component. The raisins, figs, plums and spice from the perique are supporting players, though there is a slight inconsistency regarding their presence. You’ll always notice the perique, but there are times when its strength level will vary. At its least, it’s a background player, and at its peak, a very complementary addition. Most of the time, it leans toward the latter. The nicotine is in the center of the mild to medium threshold. The strength is a couple of steps past that mark. The taste is a slot past the strength level, but doesn't reach the medium level. It won’t bite or get harsh. Burns at a moderate pace, cool clean and very smooth from start to finish. Requires few relights, and easily burns to ash with little moisture in the bowl. Has a short lived, sweetly pleasant after taste and room note. An all day smoke for those looking for a mild to medium VaPer.

Opening the tin, it's a classic VA flake, with just a bit of a citrus topping. Bright slices, the classic sweet hay-ish aroma, reminding me of a variety of other VA flakes, but most closely Richmond Navy Flake and Tordenskjold VA Slices. Folding works, but I prefer to rub out.

Lighting is easy. As with all VA blends, sip slowly or it will burn hot and go sour on you. Apart from that, nice sweetness, the Perique is hiding in there somewhere and just barely pops up now and then. I have just a smidgen of dottle left over at the end, and a nice, dry pipe.

Overall, a solid VA flake, recommended, but if you can't get it where you are, there are others out there that are just as good.

Pipe Used: Torben Dansk Snaps, MM cobs

Age When Smoked: 2 months

Purchased From: cigarworld.de

Similar Blends: Orlik Tobacco Company A/S - Richmond Navy Cut, Dan Tobacco - Tordenskjold Virginia Slices.

Another HU flake offering , this one being rather milder that some of the others . One needs to smoke a little slower to allow the virginia flavor to come through . The perique is sort of a phantom presence though it can be noticed at times. I have problems calling this as a VaPer. Can bite if smoked too fast but otherwise a nice burn , easy to get to some virginia sweetness . Although this is a respectable virginia I think that HU does much better in some of it's other flake blends blends . Not designed to knock your sox off but surly good enough to pass time through the day .
