The red cavendish has a little grass, and a bit of earth, along with some tangy fruitiness and a light toast note. The black cavendish appears to be unsweetened as I don’t notice any vanilla, but I do get a little sugar from it. The apple topping is very mild as often is the case. The caramel is just a little more noticeable, although the rich, yet gentle chocolate is the most obvious topping. No artificial, chemical or syrup notes exist here. The toppings sublimate the tobaccos to a moderate extent. The nic-hit is mild. The strength of the blend is shade past the mild level. The taste is a shade or two past being mild. No chance of bite, and it has no harsh or weak spots. Lightly moist out of the tin, it needs no dry time. Burns at slightly more than a regular rate, cool and clean with a very smooth, fairly consistent flavor. I say “fairly” because I do get just a tad more caramel and apple in the last third of the experience than I do the chocolate, which weakens a mite at that point. Easily burns to ash with few relights, and leaves very little moisture in the bowl. The very pleasant, mild after taste is short lived, although the sweet room note will linger just a little. An easy going all day smoke that doesn’t get boring.

**This blend keeps getting better and better the longer it stays in the ball jar. The topping evens out and the leaf breathes, much better than when i first purchased it. Now this is much more like an English Cavendish than an American gooper, which is not a knock at our aromatics, just that it lacks a lot (or all) of the PG I'm used to.**

We have MM again for 2016 and it just as delicious as the two prior years! Yummy Halloweeny State Fair Autumn aromas and flavors abound. Really a top shelf Holiday aromatic!

As Eddie said in Christmas Vacation..."this is just a real nice surprise"! Didn't expect much as my experience with C&D aromatics is they always seem to fall short in the taste catagory. Well this blend started out being quite flavorful with chocolate, coconut, maybe just a hint of apple. StRted out burning very smooth. I thought C&D may have finally done a winner here. About half way through the bowl things started going down hill very fast. Taste vanished got ash taste big time and then very peppery flavor. I couldn't even finish the bowl. Oh....started burning very hot and no I wasn't puffing and bite reared its ugly head. To be fair this is new right out of the tin. It is going into the cellar for a Halloween far into the future.

Whatever I might have enjoyed in MM2 was gone in Mixture Monster III. After purchasing multiple tins, the previously enjoyed flavor, room note, etc, was nonexistent from each tin opened. I have kept this tobacco around while trying various pipe filling techniques, breathing techniques, etc -- *just trying to find what could be hidden in this blend that I am now missing* - and I use this only to bore myself to death whenever I am undecided on a choice of tobacco. Bottom line? This is a low-grade blend base that has a rapidly disappearing casing. No apples, no caramel, no Halloween treats included here. You've been tricked with an assortment of slick marketing labels on this one. Shame on me for buying multiple tins. Do not cellar in jars.

I love halloween so this blend kind of caught my attention with the halloween marketing. I bought 1 tin of Vampyra to try it out . I opened the tin expecting just caramel and apple that the supplier noted but once I took a whiff of this stuff I found out its much more complex than that. theres hints of caramel, hazelnut, chocolate, slight toffee, and fermented apple. All together it smells just like a candy corn.

Not only does it smell great, but it tastes great also. It smokes very similar to the smell with lots of carmel and hazelnut with some chocolate and the fermented apple comes through subtly. The room note is incredible. Its easy to smoke and pretty delightful for you and those around you.

If you're and aromatic smoker, give this stuff a try. Its easy and tasty. I highly recommend this blend to halloween fans out there because it tastes like the candy of the holiday.

I found this to be a pleasant smoke. Like most aromatics it smells better than it tastes, but it was by no means a boring smoke. Some nice but somewhat muted notes of apple and caramel buried within tobacco that is moist but not overly wet and that required no relights. I am going to pick up another tin or two to cellar and pull out when I find myself in an aromatic mood, as I often do during the Autumn and Winter months.
