Mostex Stanislaw Prague's Mixture

(2.00)
The pipe tobacco "Stanislav Prague Mixture" is a nice selection of vintage Virginia tobaccos which are shredded and a chocolaty burley is added then. The mixture is mildly flavored with rum. Smooth smoke, with a pleasant and unobtrusive aroma.
Notes: The motive on the tin is the painting "Prague" by "Prag" von František Ringo Čech.

I couldn't help noticing all the pipes sold in the Prague shop were 9mm filtres. And this tobacco needs it. It's a sharp virginia of no shameful quality sprinkled soporifically with cheap apple juice et al. Each to their own but filtre pipes are for weekenders for their weekend tobacco pose.
Pipe Used: Stanwell billiard

Let's give this tobacco too at least one fair and neutral review, shall we?

This was part of my large haul from the Stanislaw Tobacco Shop in Ostrava last September. I have to admit I bought it mostly based on 1) It being Mostex 2) the front cover and 3) the old-fashioned rectangular tin, which I like. Not that we had a common language with the shop staff anyway, so that I could have inquired after the characteristics of each individual tobacco of which there were many, many and many on offer, so it was mostly hit-and-miss.

I kept this all autumn as a Christmas present for myself and boy, I couldn't have made a better choice! Opening the tin it's first a wonderful chocolatey aroma from the burley, quite sweet, with a herbal undertone (probably from the rum which again I couldn't have placed, but it's easy to believe it's in there). Straight from tin it's a little bit reluctant to burn due to moisture, but nothing that a little bit of pre-drying wouldn't cure; broken flake means a little bit more work stuffing the pipe properly but that's just part of the fun, isn't it?

Smoking it, the burley takes centre stage immediately, supported by more dry/strawlike virginia aromas, which is just heavenly for a burley lover like me. A tiny bit of tongue bite there, but overall a very satisfying, wholesome, thick smoke. This is what I call a good aromatic, with most of the mixture coming from honest tobacco flavors, only subtly enhanced by spicing. As a matter of fact, it probably shot straight to the top of my list of Best Aromatics. Will definitely be buying a few more tins for storage, if and when I get the chance.

PS. I thoroughly enjoyed smoking a full bowl of this through a 9mm filter in my 9mm filter pipe, with some good coffee after the Christmas dinner.
