Planta Marc de Champagne

At first i have to say that the pouch i purchased was very old the tobacco was dryed out so my review might not suite a fresh sample of marc de champagne. The mixture is very heavy on black cav which you have to like in order to enjoy it. It is easy to fill, light and smoke. At first there´s the typical sweet taste that seems to be in most planta aromatics, not bad but slightly artificial. Then the fruity, alcoholic liqor taste appears but after half bowl it becomes more and more sad and ashy. (or maybe that´s the truffels???) Not my favourite blend but you might give it a try if you become bored of your usual blends. Not bad but not that good either.

Yay first one on this blend. It seems very hard to find any information on this tobacco and rare are those who seem to have heard of it before.

I really liked the smell from the tin. Though I still find it difficult to identify, somehow it reminds me local sweets that I used to get when going on holiday in the south of France, Provence. Some kind of fruit paste. That being said, it says "booze" on the tin so it must have some kind of Champagne smell.

The packing and charring came really easy. I found the smoke agreeable, nice and a little thick, but not too much. I used already several different pipes to smoke this blend and, sorry, I can't even remember which, and more over, not even which was better.

I recommend this blend for the beginners, like me, who don't know much but will appreciate something a little light between the crazy Lat. experiments.

When opening the pouch you will be greeted by the smell of any cognac laced tobacco, and yes, some truffles, why not? I cannot make out any tobacco but also no artificiality.

Packing and lighting are easy enough and burning properties are no hassle. It needs one or two tamps and burns down willingly.

I do agree that it tastes like some desert. Creamy and smooth. Main taste is Marc de Champagne and again some faint truffles. I could not make out any tobacco taste except some sweetness from the Virginia. But this is not a low class blend by any means. The taste is nice and lasts down to the end of the bowl. For an aromatic lover this should be a sure shot.

The beef i have with this blend is that it gave me tongue burn and the sneaky kind too. The kind that appears only after you already have finished the bowl. But this blend is not harsh per se, i do not know why it gave me tongue burn but i guess its the chemical kind of tongue burn.

Aftertaste is nay-saying and short. The room note is like any cognac laced tobacco and it made my girlfriend sick to the stomach and the child was holding its nose. So i guess it has a bad room note.

Do i recommend this blend? Due to my experienced tongue burn i can only give this blend two stars tops. *But* should you be able to smoke it without tongue burn (and i guess most ppl would) this is a solid three star blend.

My first review on this site.Have been a pipe smoker since i was 16 years old.Pipe collection includes Savinelli ,Dunhill and Big Ben.My fav tobaccos are the range of the Davidoff tobaccos although expensive.

This was the only pipe tobacco i could find on my holidays in Asia.Did not like it at all. Burns very hot,hurts my tongue,a wet smoke too.........tobacco pouch and content looked old.Could not find a date on the pouch.Smell from the pouch was ok.
