The name Frog Morton comes to us from the works of JRR Tolkien. Frogmorton: A village in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. It stood on the East Road, between the Three-farthing Stone (fourteen miles to the west) and the Brandywine Bridge (twenty-two miles to the east). Immediately to the north of the village, the stream known as the Water broke into two, creating a wide watery region - this feature seems to have given Frogmorton its name, which means "frog marsh". |

| I've been wanting to try this blend for quite a while now. This is a wonderful blend that I would recommend to any fan of English tobacco. Well balanced and never disappointing. Perhaps not particularly pleasant to bystanders but quite pleasant to the one smoking. Highly recommended.

| Smokes smooth and cool
Not a wet smoke or harsh.
extremely pleasant.
No aftertaste at ALL!
The farther you get into the bowl, the other aromas and tastes come out, being very nice. I always look forward to smoking this and it leaves no trace of taste when your done.
Pack on the lighter side for this tobacco to allow the full aromas to come out and to burn exceptionally well.

| This is another one of my favorite English blends. I finally got around to trying it last Fall amongst a time when I was mostly smoking VA's. I found it especially enjoyable for those late night smokes in the winter with some kind of fall or winter specialty beer to accompany it. Smells so unique when you crack the tin, I love the smell of Frog Morton, and then when you light it up, oh so nice! It has that nice campfire English blend smell but then with this extra sweetness, this nice complementing flavor that comes alongside the typical English. This is one of my favorite of the milder English blends, I would surely call it a masterpiece!

| Great leaf, had to have a few bowls to really appreciate this one. I got the smooth, creamy, salty, smokey and sweet on it...loved the flavors so much, hit it harder then normal...and still didn't bite, even got some tastes of really good dark chocolate toward end of bowl...I'm hooked and will be stocking up the tobacco bar with this one for sure

| I couldn't taste anything but the Latakia which would have been alright if I had ordered a tin of straight Latakia. The blend behaved well and I would rate it higher if I hadn't been disappointed with the taste. I do not blend my own baccy but I suspect that a mix of straight Latakia and a bit of Virginia would give the same result.
My wife threatened to beat me vigorously about the head and shoulders if I ever smoked this stuff in the house again. This blend is not worth having to tolerate her prune face everytime I light it up.
Presbyterian and Margate are much, much better.

| When I opened my tin of Frog Morton, I realized that it smelled like Dunhill Early Morning Pipe or 965. In particular, it was that barbecue gristle smell (ah...Latakia!) I was a little weary because the Dunhills always had a strong kick!
I thought that I will only be a VA lover...however, Frog Morton manages to be tame and I can now enjoy both the sweetness and leather of VA; and, the smokey creaminess of Latakia. In short, this is quite a good balance for me and I think this blend will keep me liking 'English' blends (as long as the nicotine is mild but pleasing!)

| First, I have been smoking aromatics for years, all of a sudden I find myself looking for something more. I am know venturing out into new fields trying blends that I would have never touched in the past. I find this blend extremely pleasing, it is a relaxing smoke. I will be adding many many tins to my cellar. This is my new favorite for just relaxing.

| I didn't care for this the first couple of times I smoked it. Tastes like Latakia, Oriental, and frog. Against my better judgement, I kept smoking this one.
This one is quite sweet: an all-natural Virginia-Latakia sweetness, especially in the first 2/3 of the bowl. And I'm a sucker for sweet tobaccos.
It's growing on me. Before long, I'll probably change it to four stars and be hooked, or should I say gigged.
Scores high on the wifeometer as well.
This is among McClelland's best.

| Having been previously spoiled on Blatter's Reserve, I was hoping this would be at least equal to, if not better than, especially for the higher price. But it's not. In fact similar to Blatter's Reserve, it has less latakia. The tin aroma is nice and earthy, slightly moist but the size of the pieces of tobacco negates using a small bowl pipe. The aroma and taste remind me of an oriental blend with a wee bit of added latakia.
There is just a slight sweetness to it. It consistently burned itself to leave a considerable dottle of charred and un-burned baccy in the bottom of the bowl.
If you like oriental-like smokes with just a wee bit of latakia, this will work. I added more latakia which gave it more depth. As I understand, FM on the Town would be a much preferred choice for lovers of latakia and basma.
This is an acceptable blend, just too weak in the latakia for me. No tongue bite, slow burning and just a slight sweetness to it. I won't buy it again because I can get a more in-depth blend from Blatter for less moolah.

| Ahhh... what to say about the frog? I purchased a 100 gram tin of it in May of this year (stamped April, 2008) due to the rave reviews on this site. I'm impressed.
The tin is loaded with black and brown tobacco leaf cut in ribbons. As I've only been smoking for a year, I'm not an expert at identifying them. I think that the dark leaf is latakia and perhaps cavindish with the lighter being virginias?
Some reviewers have complained of the tin smell, but I actually enjoy it and sometimes hold it up to my nose just to savor the contents. The moisture content is perfect, and has yet to dry out.
An extremely smooth smoke, it is robust with flavor, though one that's somewhat hard to describe. For me, the taste reminds me of the aroma of damp earth after a rainstorm. No, not the typical soil around town, but of the well fertilized soil of a garden or perhaps a potted plant. Yes I know, it doesn't sound appetizing, but I love that smell. How it was duplicated in "taste" I haven't a clue. It's also somewhat creamy with a heavy coating of smoke - the kind you smell while at a steer roast perhaps. I cannot get this to bite.
Up until this point, I have not been a fan of latakia. Simply put, all the other blends that I've tried were too harsh for my liking. That is not an issue with the Frog.
As far as room note goes, I live alone, yet this is one aroma that I do love - Smokey yet smooth, and not at all overpowering.
The one drawback to this blend is its lack of punch concerning Vitamin N. As one who smokes a robust burley as his daily staple, I simply find the Frog too weak in that department. However, it rocks as a change of pace when my pallet craves something different.
Over all, I give it 3 out of 4 stars. On a scale of 1-10, I'd probably give it an 8.5 only for its lack of "punch."

| Frog Morton has become my favorite tobacco. I love the taste, a nice subtle sweetness coupled with the most amazing flavors, to me it's like smoking a very very very subtle incense. Incredibly satisfying and light, I find it excellent for the summer.

| As a confirmed lover of "English" style blends, I was a bit leery to try this at first.
McClelland produces, in my opinion, the finest natural virginias available and I had doubts that they could do a better job with an english blend than say, Butera, or Ratrays.
Boy was I wrong!
PLEASE don't take away from your review of this product because "it didn't taste like Penzance" or "it didn't have any of the Turkish or Oriental tobaccos in it."
This is EXCELLENT, matured McClelland Virginia leaf perfectly blended with a goodly hit of high quality Latakia.
Period.
No more, no less.
And it ROCKS. I could not believe how TASTY this blend was! Upon lighting, you get the expected smoky hit of Latakia. Soon after, you also get the flavor rush of a good, matured Virginia. Lacking the Balkan style leaf, there is no "creaminess" one often associates with Balkan blends, but this is a good thing for those looking for a different tasting "English" in a crowded sea of already great English blends.
If you like matured Virgina sweetness and the smoky, tasty note of Latakia, you will absolutely love this blend.
It is so sweet, so cool, so flavorful...
Do me a favor and try this in a freshly cleaned and sweetened pipe, a new pipe, or in a new cob. You'll see what I mean!
EDIT
2 tins down, and I am loving this more and more.

| Frog Morton blended by the McClelland Tobacco Company is really one of my all time favorites. It is a Virginia / Latakia blend, and as far as I am concerned McClelland really "owns" Virginia tobaccos in all of its manifestations. I love the deep sonorous bass note of the Latakia, which is provided in abundance, and this really travels well with the sweet Virginias. Although slightly moist it dries out readily if one lets the can sit open for an hour or so. It burns very well, producing a fine grey ash, and travels well down the bowl as well. Towards the bottom third of the bowl, the blend really comes into its own, as the Latakia takes center stage, with the sweet backdrop of the Virginia in the wings and sipping comes easy. I highly recommend Frog Morton as a delicious and deeply satisfying smoke! I only wish they sold it in bulk or at least in 7 oz. cans. Cheers and happy smoking.
