The name Frog Morton comes to us from the works of JRR Tolkien. Frogmorton: A village in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. It stood on the East Road, between the Three-farthing Stone (fourteen miles to the west) and the Brandywine Bridge (twenty-two miles to the east). Immediately to the north of the village, the stream known as the Water broke into two, creating a wide watery region - this feature seems to have given Frogmorton its name, which means "frog marsh". |

| This blend definitely hits all the right notes. I was surprised by how mild and smooth it was. This is definitely one to have on hand if your a fan of latakia, but are in the mood for something mild without sacrificing anything taste wise.

| Smoked this for the first time tonight in a churchwarden dedicated to English blends. Loaded it right out of the can without any additional drying. Although I had to relight it frequently (packed it very loosely), it smoked all the way down with no excess moisture at all, very cool. Not one gurgle. Easy on my tongue, no spitting, great taste - I like to french inhale to get the aroma and I very much enjoyed the aroma of this blend. Much of the savory smokiness of the Latakia comes through in the smoke. It is the best english blend I've tried so far, against Bald Headed Teacher, Classic Samsun, and Margate(Dunbar? Whichever one's the english blend).

| Definitely a complex, full-bodied smoke that is extremely satisfying with low tongue bite. The flavor and nicotine levels are just perfect, it definitely lets you know your smoking something without being overwhelming. It feels almost like smoking a cigar in my pipe, except cigars are never this complex in flavor, they are however about this strong in flavor and smell. This is the first tobacco in two years of searching good enough to finally call "my tobacco."
It smelled like spicy ketchup when I first got it and I thought that it was going to actually taste like that, how disgusting! It neither smells or tastes the way it comes out of the tin, how interesting. You really feel like a hobbit smoking this stuff, it is best at night outside on a porch where your imagination can run wild.
The first time I smoked this I hallucinated a ghost where an object was, which made me jump clear out of my seat and I drifted into mountain biking memories.

| I've now smoked several bowls of this and heartily agree with those who have recommended it: This is an excellent blend, especially for those beginning to sample English/traditional blends.
Most reviewers have commented on the smell upon opening the tin. It is not unpleasant, but doesn't make you want to grab a spoon and start eating it, the way some aromatics do. The label claims to be a Latakia mixture and you can notice the Latakia right away. But the smoke doesn't dissolve into just another smoky, Latakia based blend. There is no mention of Black Cavendish in the blend, but it definitely has a touch of that sweet flavor. The Virginias give it some earthy sweetness, and the combination of all these leads to a slow, cool burning, very enjoyable smoke! I smoked this with a friend the other night and he commented on how pleasant of a smoke it was - and he has just joined the Brotherhood of the Briar! Whether you are new to the gentle art of pipe smoking, or have practiced this art for years and never yet sampled this, do so! Tolkien would have been proud of this blend!! Goes great with coffee, tea, and beer, too.

| Frog Morton was the second tinned tobacco I ever smoked, having enjoyed the milder Frog Morton On The Town. This one does have a stronger 'ketchup' tin aroma, which I quite like, it's tangy on the smoke, and has an almost fermented.. old sock tin aroma.. Which again is strangely enjoyable. I consider this a milder smoke than prefer these days, tho definitely recommended! It smokes dry and cool.

| I love this tobacco, the smell when you first open the tine, will make you think that this might not be a good tobacco, but when you smoke it, the smell does not coincide with the taste. The taste is a strong latakia. This is perfect for me. I do highly recommended this English tobacco to anyone.
The room note is tolerable says my wife. It smells smokey like a camp fire.

| This is a sweet dark tobacco. First impressions were of an over ripe mango rolled in dirt, but in a good way. Thick smoke, good for rings. The tin smells horrible, but the smoke is awesome. I think this is the perfect winter smoke, but a a little more nicotine would be good. I will definitely get more, but after I try the rest of the frog series. EDIT 27-02-12- Lost a star because of lack of nicotine. I smoked a 100g tin and it wasn't as fun as I remember.

| This is good but to me it seems like it's missing something. You get a little tiny bit of sweetness from the Virginia, but latakia dominates. This is good sometimes but it would be nice to have a little more complexity. I tried mixing it with burley and that was ok but ill enjoy it as is or smoke something else. So my final opinion. This is good and i do smoke it happily, but i would enjoy a little more complexity. Ill have to give another tobacco in the Morton line and see if there's any more complexity.

| Aroma/Flavor: Savory, strong soapiness, smokey, herbal aroma with a lingering lighter fluid-like aspect. Despite my description I find the aroma to be very appealing. It reminds me of a flavorful Italian pasta with an herbal tomato based meat sauce.
Body: The body is incredibly light. To my taste it's far too light. This is my only criticism of this tobacco.
Smoke: Smoke is billowy at packaged moisture. I did have to relight several times, but the nice billowy smoke was well worth the effort.
Nicotine: For those looking for a good nick hit, you'll have to search elsewhere. This smoke is very mild on the nicotine.

| This is one of my favorites, and the only English blend in my collection that consistently wins the approval of female company due to the sweet VA layer definitely perceptible in its room note. I'll not say more about its flavour since so many below have said so much already.
But if you're a Scotch lover, definitely try pairing Frog Morton with your favorite Islay. I am transported into bliss by rolling the rich FM smoke around in my nose and mouth along with a swirl of Lagavulin or even Laphroaig (I find the latter needs a bit of ice while the former delivers its joy best neat).

| Over promised and under delivered again. Like smoking hot air with a whisper of latakia. There are much better English blends out there to waste much time with this stuff.
I am a heretic I'm sure. Everyone seems to love this stuff, but I am convinced that it rates highly from pure peer pressure than anything else. Cheers!

| Man, I love this stuff! The Latakia is pronounced but not overpowering. I don't get any sweetness, really--just cedary, smokey flavor and aroma. It reminds me a bit of riding through rural Ireland smelling that wonderful peat moss that is burned for fuel. There is a warmth to this pipe tobacco that I really enjoy. It burns evenly and consistently. The flavor is steady too. It's definitely an English blend, but not a strong English. I look forward to trying the other Frog Morton blends.

| My favorite "American" english blend. To me this is the most middle of the road english blend that satisfies the latakia craving without having too harsh of a room note or too hard on the tongue & pallet. A mainstay in my tobacco stash. Wonderful for a new pipester to get into english.

| A high quality blend with perfect balance. Never bites no matter how fast it's smoked. A little light on N, so smoke a second bowl back to back if you need N, it's an all day smoke. I find myself reaching for this in the AM, it really starts the day. The flavor is more sour than sweet with a mild latakia smokieness. I feel there are some orientals in this blend even though they are not listed. Hard to initially light and I find it goes out very easy. I like this and FMATP the best over the other two Frogs. Will keep in stock and smoke a bowel of this a day.
Updated 8/5/11: I'm disappointed by the intensity of the flavor, the cut and the "N" level of this tobacco. The tobacco just doesn't bring a lot of flavor, it's there, but not in your face. The chopped flake cut is very difficult to keep lit, it falls out of the pipe in hot embers and requires constant tamping. the tobacco is just too mild and between the re-lites, it just requires constant attention. I tried this against a back to back comparison of Balkan Sasieni, which I find the flavors similar ( even some Deartongue), and found the Sasieni beats the FM in every category , even price. I have to agree with some of the reviewers, "not complex". Think of the space shuttle, "blasting off but never lifing off" I have reduced the rating by one star.

Do I taste some Black Cavendish, or is it just me? It doesn't say there's any in the description, but I swear I get hints of it.

| Remember the taste you imagined the tobacco that your uncle smoked was like. The one your aunt called "vile and stinky". He shared some with me and while I cannot speak to its secondary olfactory effects, the final oral effect (due to my fast puffing) was somewhat charring. Over the years, I've learned to slow down my puffing. By now, I'm assuming that you know I've been describing Latakia/Oriental blends Well I've found the answer to my prayers. Frog Morton allows me to achieve nasal nirvana while maintaining lingual neutrality. I can even taste the sweetness all the way until the final white ash .Truly a modern classic. (stupid ass cutsey name tho) .

| Awesome stuff! The four stars are deserved for the taste alone, the only thing I would change is it's a bit light on the nicotine, and I'm a nic junkie. This and McClellan's Three Oaks Syrian are my favs for the consistent 'OMG that's yummy' factor, every single time.
