The name Frog Morton comes to us from the works of JRR Tolkien. Frogmorton: A village in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. It stood on the East Road, between the Three-farthing Stone (fourteen miles to the west) and the Brandywine Bridge (twenty-two miles to the east). Immediately to the north of the village, the stream known as the Water broke into two, creating a wide watery region - this feature seems to have given Frogmorton its name, which means "frog marsh". |

| Every pipe smoker should start with this blend! Not hugely complex, but the VA and Lat play very nice together to round out a full flavor profile that isn't boring. Any english lover should try this if they haven't already. A cellar staple!

| A wonderful mild English blend. Smokes cool and leaves little to no dottle, just fine white ash. No bite for me at all.
Good flavor, but easy going enough to be an all day smoke.
Very nice Latakia flavor, without being over powering. A very enjoyable smoke to be certain. This one will have a permanent place in the rotation.

| Another non-aromatic standard that must be tried. Even though this is listed as a full latakia mixture, I am not sure that is appropriate. What I find is a very pleasant light English blend with depth - for lack of a better word. If you love your latakia, then this blend will be perfect to start the day, full of intrigue and rich enough to keep you coming back. Just got another two tins to be sure..

| This is the best English blend I've tried. I would recommend it to those who would like to try an English blend for the first time. I'll definately be trying the other Frog Morton Blends.

| I bought a tin of this, along with some Squadron Leader about a year ago for a first taste of an English blend. The first time I tried it, I didn't very much care for it.
Opening the tin, it smelled like smoky BBQ sauce. Fairly pleasant I suppose, but not what I was expecting a tobacco to smell like.
The taste was smooth, maybe even a bit soapy? Smoking it from a pipe that had never been cleaned with soap by the way. It just reminded me of soap, or some fragrance or something like that.
Tried it again just a few minutes ago and enjoyed my bowl. I still prefer aromatics at this stage, but this wasn't bad at all. The room note, as you'd expect is not that great. It would not pass the wife test. She would tolerate it, but not really like it.
I smoked this once in my shed, and for the next few days, the lingering smell of it wasn't very pleasant.
I'll finish my tin, but I may not be quick to buy more of it. Probably my English blend of choice right now, but again, I prefer aromatics.

| I was always a big fan of the Frog,,but that has changed. After purhasing several tins and enjoying this very tasty blend,I was slapped in the taste buds with a nasty tin of I dont know what it was,,but it wasnt the frog. The only way to describe the flavor was a rancid.soggy mix of 1Q and old socks. No latakia taste to speak of at all. So, good by old frog,,your not on my tad list any more.

| Having only smoked aromatics sense starting pipe smoking, I decided this past spring to make the move over to English blends. I decided to give the frog on a log a try sense everyone recommended it to me. The tin aroma kind of threw me off at first sense I was not use to the smell of latikia, but I quickly got over it. From 1st light to last puff it was very smooth and cool smoking. The taste was very nice, and the room note I found fantastic. This has very quickly became my all time favorite tobacco, and find myself grabbing this over my other tobaccos. Only drawback, my girlfriend hates the room note and kicks me out to the patio when I smoke it. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll have a bowl right now.

| Nice mild English blend. Good and light flavor, not overpowering. Latakia was there, but in a supporting role. Thats not a bad thing, especially if you want an all day blend. I really like nightcap, but i needed an every day blend, something that doesnt kick me in the skull. No offense Dunhill. I don't smoke for/crave the N factor and dont like feeling lightheaded. We have whiskey for that.
Very nice mellow, earthy and slightly smoky/salty flavor to it. Seems to stay lit pretty well, although im a compulsive relighter and dont give it a chance to go out. Very unique mouth feel, but not in a bad way. Absolutely no tongue bite whatsoever. Caresses the tongue and leaves a weird and somehow pleasant tingle. Again not bad, just the first time I've come across it.
Smokes cool. Huffed on it pretty good just to test it out, and was very happy. A huge plus for me because i tend to get carried away.
All together, 4 stars to the Frogmakers for nailing what they wanted to nail with this one. Its a different sort of blend, and I can't nail it down, but whatever it is its got it. All day every day for sure, if thats what you do. Maybe not for you if you prefer your tobac to kick you in the yoohoos. But thats not my cup of tea.

| When i opened my first tin of FM the tin note was quite invasive on my sense of smell. very smoky and thick smelling. i was apprehensive packing my first bowl of the dark oily ribbons but i found the entire bowl to be quite mild and tasty leaving behind a very mellow and tolerable room note that stuck around for a better part of the day. i left the rest of my tin out to dry a little and it only got better. all in all i would recommend a tin of FM to anyone looking for a nice mild and relaxing smoke. it burned nice , slow and even with absolutely no bite.

| Frog Morton remains one of my favorite tobaccos of all time, even though my preference has grown for something a bit stronger in the Latakia department. I highly recommend this because it is THE epitome of a "gateway weed"; that weed being Latakia. When I first tried an English blend I went for some of the strongest blends available and that was a huge mistake because I thought I would never grow to like them. Years later I tried Frog Morton and with just a hint, a perfect hint, of Latakia I developed a taste for it. Sure, I eventually moved on to stronger blends, but that's not what this tobacco is about, nor does it ever try to be. Latakia, for most, is an acquired taste and Frog Morton is the perfect introduction to that extraordinary leaf. What separates Frog Morton from many other fine mild English blends is first: the absolute perfection of balance between the tobaccos, and second: the very high quality of leaf in the tin. When you smoke Frog Morton you know you are smoking a quality blend. Most highly recommend.

| It is only out of respect of all the brethren that this does not get one star from me. Not that it really matters with nearly 250 reviews to date. I did not like this and this now makes 2 for 2 on frogs I don't like. (FMATP the other)
I think I just probably am not a fan of full english blends in general as I have yet to find one I really like. I also join the chorus lamenting the lack of nicotine with this and with McClelland in general.
The positive. The tin note is incredible. What do you get when you mix ketchup and smoke? BBQ sauce and this is exactly how it smells to me. I like this, several don't. It smokes slow and cool, perhaps cooler than any other smoke I have had. It is hard to even tell it is lit fromt he feel of the pipe. I imagine it would be hard to get a bite from this. Finally, the romm note. I had several people tell me they smelled nothing, which I take as good from a full english blend.
The bad. The taste doesn't do it for me. I find it just short of repulsive. I have yet to find anything from McClelland that isn't a straight Va that I like.

| Let me start out by saying that I am a big fan of McClelland tobaccos English and Virginia tobaccos. Frog Morton however, is unusual and has some type of top note or casing. I was surprised to find that very few noticed this and pointed it out in their reviews. The flavoring is overwhelmingly sweet and isn’t a flavor I care for. This is a very light English blend that aromatic smokers might enjoy but won’t be enjoyable for English enthusiasts.

| Great Va/Lat smoke, extremely cool burning , mild and easy on the tongue, nicotine is on the light side and theres a little dottle left when you finish the bowl , but its a great tasting blend with an outstanding interplay of sweet/smoky flavor!

| I smoked about 50grs of this out of a 100gr tin. Then I came here to check the reviews; I must have gotten a different tobacco. What I have is a coarse cut, extremely oily tobacco which is hard to light and keep lit. Maybe because I am smoking this in small/medium pipes?
Tin aroma is of course ketchup and almost overwhelming but upon lighting it has smoky, oily, leathery almost salty property while having a great taste. But low in nicotine, not my cup of tea really as I would like a bit more vit N.
A mild and low nicotine latakia blend which tastes great. If that's what you want; go wild!

| My first blend with latakia and also my first non aromatic blend. I didn't know what I was missing. The tin note was very strange to me, I even thought I would not like it. But when I packed a bowl of this stuff and lit it, it was just awesome!
Highly recommended! Of course I'm a newbie at this kind of stuff, but I surely recommend it. I think every smoker should try it, except those who really hate latakia.

| I spent the holidays trekking the Shire, and was given a bit of this lovely leaf by an old fisher-hobbit I met while camping one evening just south of The Water, as I journeyed west to visit an old friend in Michel Delving.
The burning characteristics are far more satisfactory than those of most blends: lights pretty easily, stays lit to the bottom of the bowl, and burns to a very fine, white ash. This alone makes for a pleasant smoking experience.
It's a nice, long smoke. Carve out plenty of time for a full bowl. And again, it's extremely low-maintenance for the duration. A good thinking tobacco.
It's quite cool as it burns. I tend to heat bowls a tad much, but that's not been a concern with Frog Morton. Again, this makes for a pleasant experience, as I don't have to give the pipe a rest.
The smoke is soft, though it seems to give my tongue a hint of tingle that I can't quite account for. That's not a complaint, though.
The flavor is very distinct, but very difficult to identify or describe. At first, I think “sweet-and-salty nuts.” But then I think “brine, but with sweetness.” But finally, and usually, I think “salty dried figs and salty dried plums.” Whatever the flavor is, it’s very much there. And very good.
The only cons are slight:
[1] The room note is rather distasteful, according to my family. This is surprising given the pleasantness of the flavor.
[2] This blend consistently produce a noteworthy amount of gurgle.
Definitely worth trying.

| Got my taste of Frog Morton today. I must say, this is the most mild latakia blend I've yet tried. I can certainly see why it is so popular.
Taste: Smooth and exceptionally mild latakia. Not a whisper of bite at all. Flavor doesn't knock you down like many stronger tasting latakia blends. It is very mild. Seeing how I cut my teeth on stronger latakia blends, I might spike this with some stronger smoke. Still, it is a very good smoke on its own.
Room note: Actually better than expected for a latakia blend. Besides being a mild tasting latakia blend, it also seems to have a more mild room note as well.
Final thoughts: I personaly like a slightly stronger smoke. There isn't any denying that this is a very good blend. It has a smoothness that is almost hard to believe. It is easy to see why many people recommend this as an introduction to English blends. I will certainly recommend it to anyone with an interest in latakia blends.
