| This blend was reccomended everywhere from fellow smokers around me (those that indulge in latakia anyway), so I said I'd give it a go. The first bowl made it obvious why-this is an excelent latakia blend. I did not (unfortunately) find the leather taste, but I am tasting the latakia, not a small amount of it, and there is a slight hint of sweetness. Not the artificial flavor sweetness though, more like virginia sweetness, but I am not quite sure. Mouthfeel is nice and full, it can be a bit bitey if you don't smoke slowly and it's a bit heavy on the nose. I cannot comment on the nicotine, as I went back to cigarettes for a while and 20 of those per day can fool your judgement. If you like latakia blends, do try, you might find what you're looking for.

| I'm rather undecided on this english mixture.
At first it feels like a full taste, cool and good burning tobacco. Usually I really enjoy the first half of the bowl. No bite at all.
With the second half of the bowl, I start feeling something bad at the back of my throat and even the taste seems a bit boring.
I find it to be like the ragged version of the early morning pipe blend

| I contemplated two thoughts before writing this review. One, should I review it so soon after smoking my first few bowls. Two, should I compare this to the Murray's version of 965. The free sample my local pipe shop gave me only lasted a couple of bowls, and I will compare this to the Murray's version because the tobacco is still called My Mixture 965. I was fortunate to smoke not only 965 but also EMP and Nightcap (in bulk) from Murray's. What I remember about Murray's 965 was that it was a deep, rich smoking tobacco. Not heavy, strong or biting but it just smoked deep. I'm sure it had lots of latakia but you couldn't tell. It had some sweetness to it, almost fruit-like (maybe apricot or pear), but the most noticeable component was a very pleasant nuttiness. Overall, I enjoyed smoking it but then Orlick took over. This version, regardless of who blends it, is nothing like the Murray's offering. At best, I can only classify it as a regular English style tobacco and not a very good one at that. It appears to be a little rough around the edges. Very unrefined. I can't really compare it to anything else I've smoked but there are many I could recommend that are far better. You can never go wrong with Balkan Sasieni or PS Balkan Supreme. They're both a bit easier on the wallet too. Not only is this blend not even close to the Murray's version, IMHO it's a below average smoke. I'm surprised it's not blended by McBaren's. Crappy and harsh.

| As mentioned by others, this is a good morning smoke. The mild cavendish allows the latakia to come through nicely, though not strongly. Very satisfying at the top of the bowl but gets rather sour at the bottom. The taste is milder than one would expect of a medium strength tobacco. Subtle and pleasant overall.

| This may be my new all day tobacco. I like a heavier tasting tobacco. For me, this stuff is top notch. I can see how people might not migrate toward this. One thing that I noticed was that it can burn a little flat and flavorless if I let it get too hot. Low and slow is the way to go. It's not enough of a problem for me to worry about. Sweet. Smooth. All day. Any day. It's dynamite with the morning coffee. For some reason it seems to bring out the sweetness of the blend for me.

| I don't know how anyone could smoke this and question the amount of latakia. It's there and you taste it. If you want a Latbomb, go elsewhere. This blend isn't designed for that, so there's no use complaining. I don't really notice much nuttiness and certainly no leather taste either. The orientals are not in full force, but that's okay. The various elements are all noticeable and work well together. There's a slight mustiness and it has a nice, light creamy taste. This can be more than a once a day smoke, even with it's strength because it's got such a good taste and doesn't knock you off your feet.
I prefer the Murrays' version, which seemed a little more complex than this incarnation, but don't let that stop you from buying this. If you want a little less in your English, and don't want to suck air, but want a nice taste, this could be your blend.

| MM965 has a typical Dunhill latakia backbone, but it also has its own flavour, which reminds me of liquorice and bitter walnut skins -a bit like Standard Mixture. This is one of the stronger Dunhills, but the cavendish makes it very smooth. As a child, I imagined eating the clouds, and in my mind the texture was something like the soft fluffy smoke produced by 965.
Now before anyone accuses me of writing advertising copy to entice 10-year- olds to part with their pocket money, I must say that the core of 965 is dark and leathery. At the same time, I find this a fairly easy going smoke that easily accompany everyday tasks, and should appeal to the novice as much as to those who seem to have dedicated their smoking lives to it.

| Leather. Like an old leather strop. Or maybe bbq sauce. Depends on which you're thinking about when you open the tin. Maybe like leather and bbq had a baby named BBleather (get it? baby leather? never mind, only the uber bright can laugh at it). Oh and there's cream. It's hard to explain how cream is there with BBleather, but it definitely is. Maybe BBleather is having a bath in cream. Yeah, that's it.
The smoke is a tad warm and fairly creamy.
Taste reminds one of the leather more than anything else, I guess. Extremely one dimensional. Too simple. Like getting a bag of m&ms and finding no chocolate beneath the candy coating; which is not to say that this tobacco is sweet--just that it offers sort of a "surfacey" flavor.
It's not terrible, but I just don't think it's worth spending money on.

| This one is a winner in my very humble (novice) opinion. I really like my night cap and this one is a tie or photo finish second. Bought a 50g tin and devoured it. If you like English blends, you will like this. If your unsure I would say give it a go! I shared a pinch(because I was completely greedy and a pinch was all he was getting!) with a friend who does not smoke as often, and leans to lighter nicotine, aromatic blends and he was quite impressed (and light headed by the end of the bowl he admitted). Strong nicotine, great taste and a room note that I love, not many others do. I highly recommend this one.

| For me this is the golden standard of Dunhill tobacco. Not like almighty Nightcup, different, but good. Very rich and interesting taste, something like bitter-sweet chocolate with fruits. Nice nicotine presence. I like to smoke it in the car while driving in the morning, sometimes adding one more pipe of it after lunch.

| One of my favorites.Remember that ther Dunhill's 965 is a standard, is a benchmark mixture, and the original's blend have 100 years Is balanced, complex, but each tobacco type can be recognized easily. Is a kind of tobacco that I like:Week in Nicotine but the taste, flavour and smell are full. wonderfull tobacco,a premium grade for the blenders!

| A delicious, light, fragrant smoke. Low nictone dose, typical Cavendish sweetness. Absolutely recommended for those who like light/medium strength English (or Scottish) mixtures. A mix of wheat beer, cream, banana and nuts. Won't give it less than 4.5 of 5 stars. Dunhill/Orlik knows how to blend.

| Ok, as I have smoked every (I think) Dunhill blend, this is no exception. Evey time I have this dry-mouth sensation that doesn';t let me enjoy the blend. It's a good quality blend but I prefer other engish type tobaccos.

| It's going to be a bit of a funny review this. I only managed to get five grams of this a part of a decent sized purchase of samples of a similar size. I don't think I'm going to do a properly fair review of this but I feel I need to get my thoughts down until such time I get round to a full tin.
The tin aroma is strange mix of smoke and cream, a strange mix. Packing is easy enough though, strangely for a ribbon, I found myself having to relight a couple of times on each smoke. As for the flavour, I had some strange experiences, the first few smokes gave out strong wafts of smokey tar flavour akin to EMP and Squadron Leader, but with the volume turned up to eleven. This would eventually tail off and I'd just about manage to pick up hints of cream and a little sweetness. The last couple of smokes I had were a pleasanter surprised, just a nice mix of smoke, tar (neither too strong) and cream, I kind of thinking this is how it's supposed to taste. The room note isn't the best but does give nice strong wafts of tar every so often. There is a bit of tonguebite but doesn't hinder the smoke any.
On the whole then a decent enough smoke, a bit more intricate than EMP but doesn't have the gravitas of Squadron Leader. While I think a full tin will be need to properly get to grips with this, this sample is certainly enough to get me interested in one.

| I just started smoking a new tin of 965...Huge disappointment! This used to be one of my favorite tobaccos. I can honestly say that I don't even recognize the blend that I am currently smoking??? What the hell happened?! This used to be a most incredible tobaccos. Now, I am not sure I will even finish this tin. As other reviews have stated, the "low notes" are gone and there is no depth to the flavor. 965 used to be a wonderfully complex English. Now, the blend is shallow and completely uninteresting. Sad to say, another great blend may be gone forever. Truly a shame...

| I quit my country in 1981 after waking one morning next to a woman whose name escaped me. 965 is like that; good but not very memorable. Take a slow boat to China lads and taste the world. You might find a tang, an excitement, a raison d'etre in other ports that puts this serviceable tabac in its rightful place. Worth a try, but not a commitment. OK, but not the stuff that dreams are made of.

| I think that this will be review number 340 by the time I finish this reveiw unless someone sneaks one in while I am typing. I am primarily reviewing this in defense of the new mixture by Orlik.
I am a new pipe smoker, but due to some extremely fortunate circumstances I find myself in possesion of just under 6oz. of the original Dunhill 965 mixture (pre murray.) I will not divulge as there is more where this came from. Thus I have had the unique opportunity of trying the two side by side. I will not commit blasphemy and sugget the new stuff is better. Its not. That said, it is still good.
The original is a fuller tasting blend and the taste above would rate a solid medium if i were reviewing the original, but I am reviewing what is available at present. And I feel the newer does have the same taste, just lighter. In color and taste. More like a 965 mellow mixture if you will.
So if I am reviewing the new and not the old and have admitted the old is much better, than why 4 stars? As this has 340 reviews and is constantly compared to several other tobaccos within these reviews, I think every pipe smoker owes to themselves to try it. As for you older guys who smoked this religiously 30 to 40years ago, I can certainly understand your antipathy.
Will I buy more? I finished my 2oz tin at approx 8am and purchased another tin at 10am this morning. I plan on always having it on hand so I am not tempted to deplete my 6 oz of the better stuff on anything but the most special occasions like after dropping a buck each fall.

| This is similar to standard mixture, but with a creamy undertone. The cavendish is very apparent, and although quite heavy on the latakia, reminds me of cigarettes.
Very english in taste, burns well like all dunhill's, but a little bit off what I am after in an english. I prefer London mixture a lot more than this, but I can understand why 965 has such a following. This is a good strong, solid blend, and one that needs to be tried if you are on a quest for YOUR english tobacco.
Probably won't buy more of this, but glad I gave it a shot.
