The aroma is very nice upon opening the tin...reminiscent of the holidays...xmas pudding and other alcohol flavored cakes....the room note is pleasant and doesn't linger long...the taste is very mild...it doesn't taste the same as the scent but I keep coming back to it. Now though I like it I'm not sure I would buy it again. I would prefer to find a sweeter better tasting aromatic. But I do think you can tell the quality as some cheaper brands I have been trying coat the mouth while this does not.

This tobacco has been highly recommended so I was eager to try it. I was a little disappointed. It has a lovely aroma as you open the tin and the flakes are beautiful! Unfortunately, I got this right after I'd had a pouch of Alsbo Black and quite honestly, I couldn't really tell much difference in it taste wise. I did find this stuff tended to give me tongue bite and it seems to be quite wet smoking with lots of residue in my pipe. Taste it is OK, not terrible but if I wanted this tobacco again, I get Alsbo Black. Quite simply I can not justify the cost of Sunset Breeze compared to other blends. I can buy higher end bulk blends or save a few dollars with Alsbo Black. That being said, I would buy it again, but it is near, or at the bottom of my list of "Must Have Again" blends.

Sunset Breeze does not dissapoint if you like a good aromatic blend. You can taste the amaretto throughout the entire smoke. Very nice blend. One of the best aromatics I have tried.

Sunset Breeze 50g round screw lid tin.

Tin appearance:Black and tan for the main with some very bright cornflake yellow blond fleks,,,rough cut and ribbony pot pouri appearance.

Tin aroma:Confection like, ala christmas chockolates, strawberry fondant, almonds, vanilla, turkish delight.Evidentally aromatic but no actual chocolate really, more like the essence of what is the mystery contents/centre of such hypothetical allegorical chocolates. The aroma smells rich at point blank nasal range, but not over heavy;lightly vanilla cased with perhaps a lighter fruitier topping.

Tin moisture and feel:Feels ok and dry enough to smoke without airing(but experience has taught me that peterson aromatics benefit from a little airing for a while before packing).

Smoked in a 6" in clay(my usual testing standard),initial ignition with a gas lighter and some big puffs to get it cooking threatens to nip my tongue but;once heated i refrain my cadence to let it cool to a smoulder point and sip it.

Sipping prevents nip, which after a 1/4 inch depth has been burned,it nolonger threatens and seems to self control itself into an a neutral PH state from which i can judge its settled properties.

The first thing i notice is the topping which is like an aromatic fruit tea,,unsweetened and non cordial or confection like compared to the tin aroma which is a good start. I detect more of a topping aspect than a casing while smoking, and there is no bloating sickly factor.

The aroma doesn't intrude over the tobacco which although milder compared to other things (things) i smoke,,,it does have a tobacco taste..(i can still taste).

The baccy beneath is harder for me to describe because aromatics are not really my speciality and they don't convey as much to my imagination but;this in its pensive aescetic silence said a lot with few words because it left me to really think about it..It had a buddha smile staring into the horizon as i tried like a fool to fathom the cosmic reason.Bliss and Nada, the realm of natural balance beyond my natural karmic propensities and indulgent urge to just smoke a brutal rope without second thought.

As i got into it and the bowl settled, the tobacco itself reminded me of aromatic natural white steamed rice 'simple'which made me think of japan actually,,,gently sipping away(for once)the ingredient leaf combines to creat a natural rice like taste(in an interesting way and not an appology for blandness). Uncluttered, measured and subtle like a great song heard as a whisper throught the wind i concentrated and envisioned levitation.

Back to the topping scent(although this tabacco smells cased in the tin,it doesn't manifest itself as a charecteristic in the smoking experience, which is the way it should be),,,;it imparts an aroma and mild taste like fruit tea over the bowl of rice (tobacco) as a compliment - simultaneous like two separate entities happening at the same time in syncronicity ,without one dominating the other.(imagine eating a ball of rice with a cup of aromatic fruit tea)aromatic and not a cherry bomb.

It has got a nice balance, behaviour and consistancy.when i pause my sipping cadence to breath and swallow my spit,i get a light cavendishy burley sweet bitter taste like a white wheat beer,,;not necessarily nutty, but perhaps more lemon grassy and water chestnut..

The cavendish scent up my nose is pleasing and sweet and on my pallete comparable to a fresh crisp sugar snap(a cross between a runnerbean and sweet pea in a pod type green thing)with a yeastyness natural and nothing fortified, artificial or synthetic.

The room note:i smoke outside BTW and sometimes the wind gives me a good passing pedestrian impression whiff of my activity,,,;its mild pleasant without being promiscuous.

While i was smoking this i was initially fighting my conciousness of the fact that i was smoking an 'aromatic',,like a man lost in a lingerie labrinth of aisles while trying to take a shortcut to the exit in a nightmare department store; trying find my way out like pacman before a shop assistant asks me if i need some help.(its a reoccuring nightmare i have sometimes when i get lost in the knickers section and find i have lost my trousers,,the CC TV hasn't discovered me yet and the devil gives me an ultimatum of what i would rather do;the choice of being naked or wearing the knickers) I got over that initial thinking dogma,;sure i can smoke the heaviest stuff, but this has in its ambient lotus pose ,another perspective to judge my usual choice tobacco; like a contemplative yogi observing the senceless destructive, austentacious random brute, showy animal nature of the 'incredible hulk'.

Only recently have i tried the slower smoking style so i can bring my briars out o play without smoking the briar itself, and its working;it means i get a longer lasting experience beyond my usual long waited nicoteeen fix relief between working shifts(something that can be savoured instead of devoured like a starving POW)

I think this might be my first tin of this, and i have ordered the complete range of peterson tobacco before and either i missed this one or didn't take any notes on it(i discovered i liked old dublin, irish oak and university so much that perhaps this didn't make such an impression). This is preferable to some of the peterson aromatics and less than others, and i would say its in the middle but its a good middle.

I don't think i will actively go out of my way to buy another because i bought it for a reminder of what aromatics are about(they make good back up baccy)i have some other peterson aromatics on hand which i think i might prefer but i still need to do a proper taste trial on them.

This has mild nicoteen,no soap, although a bit spikey in the beginning it has no tongue bite. It needs to be savoured and probably smoked in a larger bowl as a company while doing something else like reading a fat book.

I could give it 3 stars but feel i should realistically give it 2 because the other star is more about my imagination whilst smoking it ,which doesn't come in the tin.

Looking for a change of pace from my usual non aromatics Sunset Breeze was recommended by a friend. As with all aros the tin note was evident from the start, a fairly strong ameretto note. Room note has proved to be quite pleasing, certainly more appreciated by my companions than would normally be the case. Cavendish appears to be the slightly dominant tobacco here over Va and Burley but only fractionally. The ameretto is evident throughout the smoke but does not over power the tobacco flavours which I like, but this blend does try to bite if rushed so it pays to take it slowly. What I really dont like about aros in general is the total mess they make of my pipes and this is no different.

Sunset Breeze is a middle of the road aromatic blend, perfectly smokeable but nothing outstanding, mild in strength and taste so it wont get you leaping out of your chair, but if you are looking for a smoke which will not upset the people around you while still giving a pleasant enough smoke then you could do much worse than this offering from Peterson.

My favorite every day aromatic, upon opening it, the tin note is amazing, and it keeps even better while smoking, the amaretto flavor is there, but it does not overswhelm the natural flavors.

A really dam good smoke!

Had a bowl of it this morning, and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. The Amaretto casing is matched well with the Virginia, Burley, Black Cavednish tobaccos. It has a very strong flavoring in the tin which carried over well into the smoke. I'd venture to say with a good glass of scotch or maybe even Bailey's the Amaretto would have been even more pronounced. It burned very evenly and down to the bottom of the bowl. Overall another very delicious aromatic from Peterson.

I have noticed something about the Peterson aromatics: When you open a tin, they all look identical, as if they are all made with the same tobaccos, in the same proportions, and only the flavoring is different. I'm not saying this comes as a surprise, but it explains why they all have the same aroma upon opening the tin, as well as why they have that chemical-taste to them that I dislike.

This blend smells like Amaretto, but the taste of the Ameretto is faint. Once again, I think the casing overwhelms the tobacco flavors, so what you are left with is an aftertaste of sweet liquor and foul tasting chemicals. This has more flavor than Sweet Killarney (that is not saying very much), but is inferior to other Amaretto blends I've sampled. Peterson pipes are great; the two I own are both excellent, in appearance and smoking quality. But their tobacco blends all seem to be either excellent or poor. This one falls into the latter category.

Just got this today & i really like this tobacco! The smell of Amaretto is present when you open up the tin. This smokes great, good flavor w/o being overpowering, little to No Bite & gentle on the tongue,Stays lit and you'l taste the full flavor.I lit a bowl and i bought some Hot Chocolate and i noticed something really weird: while i was drinking the hot chocolate and smoking this, the aftertaste of this stuff started to taste like you just ate some Freshly roasted hazelnuts! Really Delicious! I highly recommend this tobacco.

This is great stuff! Amaretto seems to have a natural cherry overtone and it makes this blend remind me of an almond and cherry Danish pastry. It is wonderful as a first smoke of the day with coffee. The flavor has no artificial taste and the leaf smokes very well. I recommend this blend to aro smokers.

I realized that I’m not a Peterson guy after all. My friend “takis” offered me a box one night in Myrna, because I do not buy another Peterson, except Connoiseur. The cherry scent gets you just as you open the tin, which contains a fairly coarse black Cavendish. Those who do not smoke consider it as a perfume of the pipe. Boring tobacco. If smoked in a hurry it can damage your tongue. Light hard and in the end of the bowl it leaves “mud” that does not smell very nice.

I'll start by saying that I've been an off and on pipe smoker for years (mostly off). I usually have bought whatever bulk blends have been on-hand locally from the various places I've lived. As none of these bulk blends were regional (at least mine never seemed to be!), every move to a new area put me back at square one in finding other tobaccos to enjoy. Sunset Breeze, therefore, is the first tinned tobacco I've purchased. I wanted to try something that had a wider distribution so if I liked it, I could find it wherever I went.

Upon my first opening of the tin, I knew right away that I had a good quality tobacco. The aroma was definitely amaretto and I loved the way that it smelled. Again, I immediately recognized the quality of the product I had in my hands.

The tobacco packed well and while moist, it wasn't gooey to touch. It burned evenly and did not get hot or bite, which being a little out of practice in the art of smoking was surprising to me. The room note was amazingly pleasant and I enjoyed smelling the smoke coming off my pipe almost as much as I did the smoke in my mouth.

This tobacco seems to have a mild note when smoked as opposed to the strong amaretto aroma in the tin. This allowed more to the tobacco flavor to come through, yet retained some of the flavor of the casing.

I detected some spice to this blend, although I'm not sure where it comes from. It isn't overpowering, and actually enhances the experience of smoking, as the taste stands out a bit more than more mellow blends.

Overall, this was a very pleasant experience in smoking. Sunset Breeze has the aromatic qualities I look for while also possessing a bit more strength in its tobacco blends. I consider finding and enjoying this product a rite of passage from run-of-the-mill tobaccos I've usually smoked to better, more quality blends.

I certainly enjoyed this smoke and recommend it to others like me who are looking for a reliable blend of tobacco to expand their tobacco smoking pleasure.

Sunset Breeze... Not just another Amaretto scented aromatic. But a almost tasteless Amaretto scented aromatic. Nothing but hot air that wants to bite. I can get more taste from a empty pipe that needs cleaning. This would be a joke, if it were not for its high cost. To each their own.

If pipe tobaccos were judged solely on tin note then Sunset Breeze would be easily ranked as a four star supreme. Its aroma, to use a use an expression so well worn its practical raggedy at the joints, is simply divine. Probably the Amaretto me thinks. Unhappily for Sunset Breeze they aren’t. And once you go beyond the glories of the tin note, what you are left with it is an admittedly high quality tobacco which tragically reeks of the most unholy chemical taste that is worldly possible. There is grass growing around Chernobyl that contains less chemicals then this blend.

I’m afraid this chemical flavouring is a feature which nearly all Peterson’s aromatics are guilty of.

The one exception is Connoisseurs Choice which is a truly magnificent aromatic. Granted there are a lot of people out there who love this tobacco. Sadly I’ll never join those ranks. I’ll give Sunset Breeze two stars, both of which are for the tin note.

It's a very nice aromatic, and one of the best I've tried if not the best. When you open the tin you're pleasantly greeted with a nice strong smell of Amaretto with an undertone of the nice smelling tobacco itself.

I find no difficulty in packing the pipe and it has a nice draw once packed. At first the tobacco does seem a bit wet and you might have to light it more than two or so times before it's taken. I prefer the moist tobacco as it makes for a nice cool smoke.

The smoking experience and taste is pleasant and you get a milder form of what you smelt in the tin together with a caramel tone. At first when smoking it does feel rather full bodied but as the moisture in the tobacco gets less it turns into a smooth smoking experience.

It's rather expensive here so not an everyday smoke, I find it best after dinner relaxing and enjoying the smoke. As the tin suggests: "put a bit of luxury in your pipe".

This aromatic delivers where it's cousin, Sweet Killarney does not.

The aroma from the tin is of sweet almonds which shows through in the room note as well. On the palate it's joined by a caramel flavor as well.

Like many aromatics, for me it seemed to turn towards bitter as I neared the middle of the bowl. Forget about smoking to the bottom- way too hot for my tongue and palate.

That said, if a great smelling aromatic is what you're looking for this one has some finesse. --------------- Rethinking this post, not only have I moved away from aromatics, but I feel that Killarney was hard to keep lit. Have to pull a star...but who cares, since this is all quite subjective anyway? Cheers.
