This is one I keep coming back to when I want a good consistent aromatic that will both satisfy me and not offend those around me. This is sold locally as Vanilla Cake at the Leesburg Cigar and Pipe Co. I love the chunky cut of the tobacco. It is not a real loose ribbon, but more like someone has cut up a series of flakes. The vanilla aroma in the bag is not overwhelming and doesn't smell artificial the way some flavorings on cheap tobaccos can. I will usually leave the baggie I buy this in open for a few hours and the moisture is perfect. It is not goopy or sticky the way many well cased blends can be. It usually behaves fairly well in the bowl inly requiring 2 hits of the flame in most cases and almost never gurgling. The flavors of real tobacco come through and play very well against the vanilla, which isn't overly sweet. It more of a "presence" that makes itself known rather than a tounge coating flavor. This one stay in the rotation, and doesn't tend to linger in pipes for very long, so it won't taint my other blends. Give it a try.

On further review....1/19/08 After smoking some and leaving the room only to return shortly thereafter, I have discovered that the after-note is rather cigar like. It wasn't until noticing this aroma that I began to notice it while smoking. This is a plus in my book.

This has a stronger vanilla flavor than most Danish-style vanillas. It's quite moist and sweet, and the nut flavor comes through also. It's a stronger vanilla than their Vanilla Creme, and more full-bodied than their Sweet Vanilla.

While not one of my standards, I keep some Vanilla Gold as a dessert tobacco.
