His [i.e., Shelby Foote's] tobacco was a blend of cube cut Burley, Latakia and Perique with a mild aromatic mixed in. He would buy the components and blend them himself. Eventually I blended them, named it Shiloh, and have been selling it ever since. It is a pleasant smoke. This is a wonderful, smooth smoking, gentle blend, like the man who inspired it. |

| First off, this tobacco is blended by Memphis Tobacco Bowl, which has been in business in Memphis, Tn. for 57 years. Memphis Tobacco Bowl originally blended and sold this tobacco for Shelby Foote. I stopped by Memphis tobacco Bowl and purchased a pound from the owner, Richard Alley.
I like the flavor of this tobacco. It has a bit of a cinnamon flavor to it. It burns well and does not bite me. The perique lends a bit of spicey taste, which I also like. This tobacco is a pleasant change of pace for me. My wife really likes the room note, which is a plus too.
One thing that I notice is that a pipe full of this tobacco does not last as long as my other blends.
