| The proprietor of HU-Tobacco, Hans Wiedemann, has recently introduced a new line of tobacco's blended in co-operation with the Italian pipe maker Foundation by Musico. Being the big fan I am of his blends, I ordered them all and this is my review of "the Khoisaan". 75% of this blend is black (latakia and Perique), the remainder is made up of a lighter virginia ready rubbed and this is the fire-cured virginia. I have asked Hans about it and he confirmed this. It gives the blend a small amount of sweetness and fullness, as does the perique, among other attributes usually associated with this tobacco: pepperiness, fruitiness and sheer nicotine. I have noticed that the perique HU-Tobacco uses seems fairly mild and not too peppery. Latakia is the main player however and this blend is full of it. Being of the Syrian variety, it is more aromatic than smoky and with a "slimmer" body in comparison to Cyprian latakia. The Khoisaan is a medium-full tobacco, not too heavy and an excellent choice for latakia lovers. A shure/dark-fired winner :)

| The Khoisaan is a blend of the new HU Tobacco - serie called Foundation by musico. Foundation by musico is a higly recommended italian pipe manufacture. I smoked all the 6 blends of this tobacco series but I think the Khoisaan is the most unusual blend of all. The Khoisaan is a blend of black tobaccos. The blend contains no filler tobaccos, only spice tobaccos like latakia, perique and darkfired virginia. No bright virginia or orient or burley. I think you can`t find often such kind of tobacco blends. Immediately after light the tobacco, I can taste a strong and creamy taste. The blend contains 59% latakia and 16% perique a real base for a strong and characterfully taste. The taste brings really wooden tones in combination with the fruity tones of the perique. But the taste is not boring and only strong. No, the taste is wonderfully complex. Sometimes like the smell of a piece of oak wood the next time with more smoky tones. Than I taste the light sweetness of the darkfired virginia in combination with tarry notes. It`s really an experience for me and I love it. The nicotine level is not too high but The khoisaan is no light weight. The Khoisaan is a lovely discovery for me. Highly recommended for lovers of special spicy latakia blends.
