| I picked up a tin of this when looking for a medium English at my trusted secondary tobacconist’s.
A rather standard English blend, with VA, Orientals and Latakia. The tin note is not much different from the milder varieties, but does show a touch of freshness among the spice.
The thin ribbon lights up well with a single match, and smokes down to bright ashes. The taste is slightly sweet, with a touch of acidity. The room note is not too bad, but won’t improve the smoker’s social life either.
Having smoked the likes of SG Squadron Leader and Bill Bailey’s Balkan Blend, this is a bit of a letdown. The taste does not develop at all, nor does the strength satisfy me, and the Orientals don’t make much of an appearance.
A good choice for a beginner to dip his toes in Latakia blends, I’d say, but apart from that, there is nothing else to tell. Two and three quarters solid stars from me. There are far better English ones out there, even in the same price bracket.
