I purchased this Lane Limited cherry cavendish blend under the Smoker's Pride label. I am a fan of aromatics, and am always in search of that "perfect" cherry blend. Pertaining to my palette, this comes close.

Keeping in mind that no two palettes are alike, here are my thoughts on this blend:

By nature, I draw frequently and heavily from the bowl and have yet to experience tongue bite. I first lit this tobacco up in my Dr. Grabow Duke and it required one relight three quarters of the way through the bowl. Subsequent smokes required no relights.

The tobacco burned into a clean, grayish-white ash to the bottom of the bowl and left very minute if any goopy mess. My palate was rewarded with a gentle taste of cherry upon the first two bowls, underscored by a mild, roasted tobacco taste- not heavy or heady.

The room note was pleasant, as stated directly by two impartial bystanders. My only complaint: I actually could have used a little more cherry flavor to the tobacco, but better the aromatic this is as opposed to the "cherry cough syrup" flavor as found in other brands.

Recommended for the aromatic smoker on a budget.

This is not a sit down and unwind after a long day smoke for me. I smoke this while driving wherever in a beater pipe that stays in my truck. I also enjoy a bowl during lunch hours at work. The dryness level is right straight out of the bag and it smokes well outside in the wind. It doesn't take much effort to load and light either. Just scoop and stuff.

It's got a definite cherry flavor to it and body. I like it a lot. Same goes for the pouch aroma. Only if I puff too hard does it become harsh and give me tongue bite. The after taste is pleasant but doesn't linger for long.

The 4 star rating I give this is in proportion with price. For an inexpensive tobacco, this is some pretty good stuff.

I came across this under the brand name of "Smoker's Pride" Cherry Cavendish on a indian reservation. $12.00(tax and duty free)for a 12OZ bag. Hey; Why not give it a try? What an awesome surprise!!! While I have been looking for a cherry blend with a very strong taste; I have found great pleasure in just the opposite. What a delightfully mild, tastefull, cool burning blend with a very pleasant room note. When I opened the bag the smell was not overpowering but quite distinct and "sharp". I noticed that the cut was good and that there was not a stem in the bag. The moisteness was just right as it was not at all sticky but by no means dry. The flavour is delicate and extremely enjoyable. Smokability can't be beat as it burns nicely and evenly. Just having come back to pipe smoking, after a twenty year hiatus, I have been "bitten" severly by more than one of the cherry blends out there. NOT SO WITH THIS!!! You can smoke it as hard, or as light as you want and it is utterly unbeatable and painless. I still want to try a couple more cherry blends but from what I have tried thus far...THIS IS IT! For a bit stronger, fuller, smoke this can also be smoked without a filter and still has NO BITE!

EDIT: Try mixing this 50/50 with Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish and you will have your new first choice in tobacco. It is exceptional!!!

If you are a Cherry fan, this is worth a shot. My tobacco seemed like it had a red tint but barely. It was moist but not sticky. It appears to be quality tobacco with a STRONG Cherry smell. I didn't get the tongue bite many people did and really enjoyed the smell. After half a bowl, I was done though. It is VERY CHERRY. Room note must be good, kids and neighbors liked it- A LOT!

AS A SIDE NOTE- The next day, I put some Vanilla Creme in with it. Wow, that made it perfect. It mellowed out the Cherry and the Vanilla. It seemed to make both of these smokable for me. It's funny. I am not a big fan of smoking aromatics but have purchased around 30 different ones. I love how they smell, just never found the perfect one. I think I am close with this blend I fumbled together. No matter what, you must be a fan of Cherry to enjoy smoking this.

I only had two bowls of this tobacco, I can tell you that that was all I needed. The tobacco is not as strongly cased but it is RED. It is very gentle on your tongue possibly because it coats it first with candle wax. It is yet another terrible example of why food and tobacco should be mutually exclusive of each other.

Aroma from the package was very cherry. The texture was slightly sticky and the taste was barely cherry. It needed many relights, and bit like a rabid pit bull. This is the second blend of cherry cavendish I've tried and not liked. The other was Super Value Cherry Cavendish. I guess I'll keep searching.

1*

I tried this in response to my wife's complaints about the odor of my pipe smoke. She complained that her clothes smelled like cigarettes. My only experience with cherry flavored tobacco was with Cherry Blend, a viciously biting substance that I maintain is responsible for more people taking up the pipe - AND more people giving up the pipe - than any other tobacco.

I found Lane's Cherry Cavendish under another name in a discount cigarette outlet and decided to give it a try; the price was certainly right. The pouch aroma is quite strong. It smells more like something to eat than something to smoke. The tobacco was nicely moist, though not sticky. On lighting the bowl, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that while the aroma of the smoke is emphatically CHERRY, the taste of the smoke was more subdued. I have not found that this tobacco will bite at all. The nicotine content is, at least, medium, and is sufficient to satisfy the addict.

I realize that this tobacco is not everyone's "cup of tea," but the smoker of aromatics who craves a cherry experience should find this blend very pleasant indeed.

Why did I do this? Like waking up in bed with a man, after a four day drunk- I immediately regretted the purchase. This tobacco is for those who love Cherry Lip Balm. It even had the waxy smell that comes with it.

This was my first tobacco. Recently I revisited it while trying to reexperience that first smoke. I find this to still be my favorite cherry tobacco. The pouch gives off a great aroma. When lit up, I found it doesn't have a big cherry taste, but the cavendish comes through with a nice flavor. However, the bite is rather harsh and the smoke is terribly one-dimensional. Recommended for the cherry tobacco smoker only.

This was the first pouch tobacco I tried. It smelled very good in the glass container at Pipes Unlimited - New York (Props for Uncle Bob) It has a great roomnote, and the taste is very mild. The only problem I have with it, is that is was a bit dry, so I put a humidor in for a nite, and that helped moisten it up. Other then that, its a good tobacco. This will always be a staple in my stock. Im a big fan of the other Lane products and will eventually try them all! Ace its time to smoke! Peace....... M.O.Z.Z.M.A.N.N.

I think this one is often referred to as "Very Cherry" in the tobacco shop's. If you like cherry aromatic tobacco that is smooth and has no tongue bite then this one is for you. I smoke it when I get home from work to the time I go to bed. I have searched for years for a cherry tobacco that burns cool and found happiness in Lane Limited's "Very Cherry". I have been smoking it on a regular basis for about a year now. In my eyes it is the "shiznat" of cherry tobacco's with an exception for Rattray's Terry Red that is also a great one.

Well it is Lane after all, so my expectations were not all that high. And, I have had bad luck in getting cherry aromatics that had much of a cherry flavor. Surely this one would at least deliver on the cherry. Still, Lane's Cherry Cavendish is a good example of how Americans can take things to such an extreme sometimes that a good idea becomes a bad dream.

As I had forgotten my traveling container of tobaccos, I purchased 2 oz of this "tobacco" in bulk before I hit the road for a long drive. I may not have purcahsed this product if I had seen it before buying. It surely must have had some food coloring added to it, or else was soaked in marishino cherry juice, cause lemme tell ya, this was red. And sticky. REAL sticky. And moist. Not the kind of moisture that any amount of drying would probably help. As to the tobacco component itself (if it was really tobacco) it must have been stewed into oblivion.

Now if you are getting the idea that I had some "issues" with this product you are right. The bottom line is that I smoked 3 LONG bowls of this stuff over a 350 mile drive during which the following points were noted:

1) there was a considerable cherry taste to this weed. overly so. But it was not abominable, just strong.

2) It was a steamy gurgle-fest right off the bat, and I did not have any pipe-cleaners. And convenience stores in interior Alaska (actually called roadhouses) do not carry pipe cleaners. Bummer x 2. I ended up buying a role of thin electrical wire (great selection of that useful product!), using it with paper towels to ungunk my pipe.

3) There was almost NO tobacco taste, the stuff could have been synthetic cellulose for all I could tell. Just a delivery system for cherry syrup.

4) This stuff was sweet enough that it actually took the edge off my apetite. Just a cup of coffee, an India Pale Ale and a 1/4 lb deli box of calamata olives for the whole trip. A record for me.

Well, I have finally found a use for this stuff. I mix 1:2 with some old and rather dryish Skandinavik Full Aroma (which curiously has almost NO aroma) and smoke it when I want to punish myself.
