Bought a one ounce sample of this not expecting to like it and I didn't. The flavoring to me was terrible and it never seemed to relent. It was incredibly artificial tasting to me. I don't inhale a pipe so I didn't think I would ever really deal with the throat irritation that some people claim, but this blend does goofy things to both my throat and my sinuses. whatever it is does not agree with me and no other blend I have smoked does this to me. I suppose this taste better than the store brand Cherry cavendish I threw out a long time ago, but not enough for me to even consider another star.

I am not sure I will even try another cherry flavored blend, but I can't see my rating for this getting any higher and I definitely won't repurchase.

Next to Pipeworks Cherry Cavendish, this is the best Cherry blend i have had as far as bulk Cherry blends go. No bite or gurgle. String cut no hassle lighting, excellent to break in a new pipe as the high sugar content builds a cake fast and the cherry flavor masks any harshness a new pipe creates. Good quality tobacco from McClelland and price to boot.

Between being a lover of all things McClelland, and enjoying the occassional aromatic, I was completely surprised by how much I disliked this tobacco. Maybe my expectations were too high... I tried this tobacco in a number of different pipes, using a number of different packing methods, and smoking at different tempos. I tried, I really tried!

Ultimately, the tobacco smells nice in the pouch, packs easily, lights fairly well, burns really well, and tastes like steamy air passing across a cherry scented car air freshener.

I won't say that I never come across tobaccos that I won't finish, however, it certainly isn't a frequent occurence. In this case, there are 3oz of fresh three cherries blend looking for a new home.

I realize I am the only 1 star rating thus far. I hope that I just recieved a bad batch, but I won't be reordering to find out. I'll stick with Iwan Ries 3-Star China Black Fire Cured as my top aromatic tobacco for now.

Stogie rating of 1 terrible Te-Amo

Not recommended.

Real tobacco with natural cherry flavor, a great aromatic. Burns nicely, subtly sweet. Put some in your cob and head out to the garden. No need for analysis with this one, just enjoy.

6/8/2012 EDIT: Smoke it fast, boys and girls. Even stored in a Mason jar, the cherry flavor in this stuff is fleeting.

My first foray into "Cherry" tobacco.

It smells like a can of merachino cherries, and gives off a similar room note. I taste a bit of tobacco, but mostly cherries. It's more aroma than flavoring though. Good for if you have anti-tobacco company over, or for a change of pace.

My favorite cherry blend by far. The cherry topings are done right. They taste and smell of real cherries, not fake manufactured chemicals. The tobacco is high quality, and there is a decent tobacco taste here, not just toppings.

It comes very moist, and could benefit from a little drying, otherwise it will leave the bottom of the bowl soaked. If you are looking for the "go to" cherry blend, this is it.

I find the cherry flavor to be fairly subtle on this blend (to me it's more like a "hint of cherry"). Overall, it's a pleasant, mild to medium tobacco, with very little bite. I got a pound of it the last time I ordered; I probably won't buy that much at one time again, but I'll keep it on my list to buy from time to time. If you like a cherry-flavored tobacco, and have found the flavor of most of them overpowering or too sweet, this might be the right blend for you.

Since my pipe smoking is relatively new, I wanted to find a cherry blend to round out my still growing collection. I have been happy with other McClellend blends so gave this one a go. It light fairly easy and burns well enough, and finished with some ash and a bit of dottle. The taste was delightful, with the cherry flavor coming through quite well, and with side notes of rasins, red wine and a hint of molasses. All in all, I really like this and intend on keeping it on hand.

Very nice aromatic, not too heavily cased and does taste like cherry all the way through. This blend would be a great change of pace if you are looking for a sweet hit. Unlike many of the aromatics that I have tried, it burns to a nice grey ash and does not bite, though does burn a little hot if you’re not careful. Nicotine is minimal. Room note is pleasant. Smoked in a Stanwell Vario 2.5/5 stars

Let me start out by saying that I am predominantly a Virginia and Oriental kind of guy, but I like to smoke light aromatics from time to time in a pipe dedicated to flavored blends. I was looking for something that didn't overwhelm the senses, goop up my pipe and pulverize my tongue and in this blend, I've found a good balance between the casing and the tobacco.

At the top of the bowl, you can really taste the cherry flavor and, as you get more towards the bottom of the bowl, it opens up into a stronger tobacco flavor with the cherry delicately balanced on top. This produces thick clouds of smoke that everyone in the room will enjoy. To me, the triple cherry is broken up into the three sections of the bowl. The sweet cherry is at the top, the black cherry in the middle and the more sour cherry flavor at the bottom.

NOTE: This WILL bite if smoked quickly! Your best bet is to puff gently and let the tobacco dictate the pace. If you smoke this correctly, you'll not be disappointed or knocked out by overcasing. It burns to a clean ash with very little moisture in the bottom.

This is a good Friday smoke in a week otherwise dominated by Virginia and Oriental blends. Kudos to McClelland for giving us something better than the drugstore blend in cherry flavor!

I have always wanted to find a cherry blend that I could tolerate, this might be it. The blend does not have the syrup taste that most have, but a real nutty cherry taste. There is a fair bit of real tobacco taste too!!! The tobacco is still wet like most aromatics, but not as wet as most. The tobacco can bite a bit if smoked to fast. The tin (bag) and room note are to die for. That is my only reason to smoke this stuff. The wife, family and friends will love this blend which makes up for most of its shortcomings.

This is a great cherry smoke for all day or indoor with family and friends. Did not seem to bite. Aroma and taste continue all through the bowl. Does not have a cheap artificial cherry aroma like the drug store brands. The cherry aroma in this blend is full and natural. I could not stop at one bowl. I had three in my meerschaum. Very tasty and pleasant aroma. If you are looking for a good cherry blend try this one.

This tobacco has my favourite pouch scent of all the tobaccos I've yet tried. It's a very fine cut ribbon, which leads to a slightly different smoking experience that the thicker cut ribbons I'm used to. A very nice even smoke, pleasant but not spectacular. I'm satisfied with it. I'll come back and amend this review once I've tried other cherry aromatics.

This one surprised me. I expected it to be sickly sweet, but it wasn't.

Three-match light despite a good drying and pack; very subtle cherry; slight bite, but I've had worse.

~~~ Worthwhile whim investment.
This is as good as any when it comes to cherry blends. I don't normally smoke these but a buddy of mine had some of this and Macbaren coconut and I decided to see how they were. I have to say, in a corn cob this is a great fishing smoke. Cheap and with good burning qualities, I seem to detect a burley heaviness here that is quite pleasant. Much better than the drug store varities.
Once in a Blue Moon a get a craving for some Cherry tobacco. This will suffice until a better Cherry comes along. I would sure hate to have a half pound to get through! Corn cobs only please.
Oh Boy, I get to be the first to review this product! Three Cherry Blend represents one of many steps I have taken along the road to finding the ideal cherry blend. Some are too flavored, and some, like Three Cherry Blend, are not enough. Somewhere out there is Baby Bear's blend- just right.
This is a typical offering from the McClelland's Bulk American Aromatics series. It purportedly consists of lemon virginias and black cavendish. If that is indeed the case then the virginias are on the brown side and so is the "black cavendish". Going from visual appearances, the virginia component dominates. The cut of this tobacco is a combination of ribbon with a sprinkling of well broken flake. My half pound arrived in beautiful condition, not sticky and not over-moist. (Note that a certain unnamed internet tobacco dealer sells 1/2 lbs for about 60% of the cost of a 1/4 lb. Is this intentional? If not, I hope they do not wise up!)
There was also a notable lack of cherry aroma, which was why I bought it in the first place. So, that was kind of a let down. I stuffed most of it into a quart jar and let it sit for about a month. Upon subsequently opening, I got a better cherry aroma, though still not quite what I was hoping for.
So... How does it smoke? Well, upon initial light, I would have to say that there is a hint of a cherry taste, just a tad underwhelming, but definitely there. There is a bit of added sweetness as well, but nothing like a drug-store cherry blend. The smoke retains a hint of cherry in the background throughout most of the bowl, and behaves well near the end, with just a bit of somewhat oily dottle. Gurgle has not been a problem.
The room aroma is less that of an aromatic cavendish than a virginia with a whiff of fruit. This is not one that pleases my wife, though admittedly she is picky.
The tobacco experience overall is quite satisfactory but not distinguishing. McC clearly did not overdo it on flavoring/sweetening this one. To someone looking for a virginia with a hint of aroma, this is probably just the ticket. I will continue to come back to this (heck, I have a 1/2 lb to smoke up) but shall continue my search for the ideal cherry aromatic.
