Another Blatter house blend made in the U.S. and distributed by Brigham Enterprises of Toronto, Canada. Thank goodness that's where its association with Brigham begins and ends. Once again I suspect it is made by Lane.

Just the right moisture in the pouch. I detect only a very, very slight hint of hickory in the pouch and on the palate. Packs easily and stays lit with one match and a tamp. Room note is mildly incense-like.

In a meer-lined Butz it smokes cool and dry. One would have to puff like a locomotive in order to get this to bite. Burns nice and slow all the way down to fine grey ash.

The taste is flat and bland. In almost every aspect its character is very similar to Blatter's 1907.

While it is a lack-luster smoke on its own, it is never the less an enjoyable one especially for beginners or anyone looking for something extremely smooth and mellow. Anyone could smoke this all day without regret. Leaves no long-term aftertaste.

Just as with 1907, this blend makes a nice mixing blend to tame some more aggressive aromatics or to compliment Blatter's Mild English or London (very nice indeed).

I really like what this does to the new Amphora Original Blend (which its not).

The best and easiest way to describe this blend would be Captain Black white without the flavorings.

I give it 3 stars for its mildness and versatility. No doubt a beginner piper could easily give it 4 stars because it is so well behaved.

From a Beginner point of view

I must admit that this is my new favourite. So I?ll try to be impartial.

On opening the bag, I smelled a good tobacco, with a presence of sweetness. The colour is rich and the texture is semi-moist. It pack itself beautifully and light easily. The real treat comes on the first puff. Sweet, rich and creamy like taste will envelope your mouth. This delightful taste becomes bitter if you over heat it. However it will return to being sweet once you let it cool down. Not to worry it?s a charm to relight.

It may not be the best tobacco for beginners. However if you?re willing to struggling a bit on your puffing and don?t mind a bite of bitterness. Go ahead the reward is very sweet.
