I have trouble blending water and cocoa, so, kudos to those who take an honest shot at coming up with something unique. Wife's Bane is indeed different. The Virginia/Perique and artificially flavored cigar leaf (?), just didn't do it for me.

I did like the cut and it is so unique in flavor that I can't come up with anything to compare Wife's Bane to. It is somewhat strong in both strength and flavor and the almost true shag cut made it easy to pack and keep lit.

After reading some of the previous reviews I do wonder if the blend is consistant. Some detected an overwhelming amount of Perique while others tasted no Perique. The Latakia element was also inconsistent in the reviews. Who knows, maybe this stuff is still in the "development" stage.

This may be a great smoke for some, but it wasn't for me.

Want a nicotine fix? This is it! It tastes like a cheap cigar. The first half bowl just had a flat latakia taste which I liked but the second half was pure unenjoyable. It smells like a strong English due to the cigar leaf, and it did burn all the way down on two lights to a dark grey ash. I never could detect the taste of the perique due to the other two leafs being so strong but I did get the bite. I don't even know if I want to mix this with anything. It just has nothing going for it. My Bane.

This does have a cigar component to it. Unfortunately, it is not a very good cigar component. This is definitely worth a try if you are the adventurous type and really LOVE McClelland blends. I could not tolerate it as the Perique component was too high. Not heavy on the Latakia though. I won't try it again.

Not the best English blend I've ever tried but Christian at Just for Him did a pretty good job for his first blending attempt. Try their Shortcut to Mushrooms for a really good Latakia blend.

Added July 15, 2011: I canned a jar of this several years ago and am still wondering what I'm going to do with the remaining 2.5 ounces. Add a couple of pounds of Virginia to it???

I'm pleased to be the first to recommend this tobacco, but after all, I am the one that recommended it. I'm not sure how they arrived at the title, as there?s hardly anything offensive to either smoker or spectator. To be sure, it?s a McClelland replete with sweet red Virginias, tangy perique and a zesty top dressing that adds a pleasant sweet/sour taste and aroma. It?s mild enough for everyday smoking and is a sensible crossover blend that can?t help but satisfy. Nothing rank here; I see this as a new occasional favorite. If your wife or sweetheart doesn?t like this, consider finding someone who does.

Three and a half of five stars
