A lovely blend, just on the aromatic side of crossover. It combines P&W's fine black cavendish, with its spice and burnt marshmallow, over thick cloudy burley. I thought I detected just a hint of latakia in the background. As usual the cavendish is the stronger presence at first light, but the burley balances it by the time you reach the middle of the bowl. It doesn't change much thereafter; it never bites. I couldn't smoke this every day -- the cavendish gets a bit one-dimensional over time -- but it's delightful a couple of times a week. Less sweet than P&W's Gotham Court, it's always tasty and pleasant, in much the way a Hob-Nob cookie is.

Well, Carole has reintroduced yet another of the 190 series. This blend will show you the parentage of No. 193 very clearly. If you had No. 193, and wanted something a bit simpler, this is it. This is very much like 193, sans Perique and Latakia.

The Burley in this is very good, but is milder than what is in Nut Brown Burley. The Cavendish is apparently toasted, fermented, and sweetened a bit. It is not cloying however, and burns very cool and dry.

I love the signature, baking spice scent of the Wilke blends. They are wonderful, especially with a cup of coffee. This is a very friendly blend well suited for beginners, and lovers of classic Burley mixtures. For lovers of full automatics, this could make a nice, more natural change of pace. For the lovers of straight tobacco blends, this could make a pleasant, mildly sweet diversion. I can certainly see more of this one in my future. A top quality, classic blend.
