| Great flavors! But bites like a pit bull. So you'll have to go slow. Otherwise, imagine a McClelland aged Virginia made into a Latakia blend. Halfway through the bowl, the Turkish or Oriental becomes evident, adding a subtle sweetness and floral notes, but you might need to look for it. Very similar to Peter Stokkebye's Balkan Supreme.

| What a treat! Wellingborough is a light to medium bodied English blend, in the same vein as Squadron Leader or EMP. The orientals play a more muted role in Wellingborough than in SL, and not quite as sweet overall as SL. VA's and a nice use of Latakia seem to play the main role here. Wellingborough seems to be more sweet than EMP, which I find to be somewhat savory. Wellingborough offers a nice complexity of tobacco flavors. Overall, a lovely tobacco, and a nice room note. Well recommended. As has been mentioned, this would be an excellent choice for the pipester new to English blends.
It's not everyday you get to smoke a tobacco that's been aging in the tin for 6 years. Yet, Wellingborough is readily available at Buchanan's Tobacco shop, in Pawley's Island, SC, at the same price you'd expect for a newly tinned tobacco. Tinned by McClelland for Buchanan's shop.

| Tin Aroma:A nice muskiness from the orientals and latakia pervades this tin, conjuring up images of fireplaces, books, coffee, and all the wonderful things I associate with smoking during the colder months.
Physicla Characteristics: A short ribbon cut, the colors cover the whole range of brown, from blonde to black.
Notes: This is a tobacconist private blend, prepared by McClelland for them. As such, it needed a little drying before it was down to Jon-Approved levels of crispiness. Knowing my penchant for heavy dark smokes, Craig Buchanan, the blender, warned me that I may find it a bit flat, as he intended it to be a very mild smoke, good for introducing people to english style blends without bowling them over with Latakia. I feel that he has achieved his goal admirably. I would not hesitate to buy a tin of this for anyone new to english blends, or to pipe smoking in general. Its' friendly demeanor and bite free smoke remind me quite a bit of My Mixture 965, though their overall flavors are a good bit different. However, this is not just a blend for a newcomer. It has a nice complexity and body that will satisfy long time english smokers as well. I hope that Mr. Buchanan will see fit to make this available in bulk as well, for those of us who would like to smoke it all day whilst working.
Verdict: A nice all day 'english' blend, and from my local tobacconist, so I will definately be laying in a supply of it.
