It's not a good tobacco. Probably someone like, but I never met anyone who decided by it. It bites too much and it burns hot. I do not recommend since you can find better options by the same price.

Only one word can describe this tobacco, cigarette. I bought one pouch at my local CVS, and it will be my last. I only got a few puffs in before I dumped the bowl, and smoked something better. If your a cigarette smoker, which I'm not, you'll probably like this blend

This is a mixture of Gold Virginia and Burley Tobaccos, treated in order to obtain a mixture with very low ammount of Nicotine. Is a ultra mild tobacco, very good for begginers, for people thart desire, want or need a low Nicotine Tobacco. Is also excelent for making personal mixtures, because it is inexpensive and "neutral", useful for reduce Tobaccos thar were considered "too strong" by the smoker. Also, Pipe experts that like neutral tobaccos may apreciate this. Their flavour ant taste? Very Mild, flavour and taste of... Tobacco... Recommended.

smells great. tastes good. one that i like to smoke indoors, very minimal bite. just a bit too weak for me though. i would sincerely like to find one that is just a stronger version of this one.

Ultra light indeed. This didn't satisfy me one bit. I don't see the point in smoking this.

Inside the plastic pouch we find a pleasant Vanilla scent, with a background air of artificial coconut. It sort of reminds me the old Hawaiian Tropic sun tan lotion I used to rub on the girls back in my glory days. The faint hint of burley tries to exert itself, no hint from the pouch of Virginia. Like the pouch scent, the room note is pleasant-ish. Packs and lights easy, Vanilla leads the way through the first quarter bowl. This stuff is so light, it produces clouds of smoke with very little to show for it. After the first quarter, the casing fades a little, revealing the slightly sweetened Burley. Again the Virginia is barely noticeable. (Classic “Burley Curse” - the tendency of Burley to take over a blend if overused.) As others have noted, the last third of the bowl can turn nasty. Chemical tastes and unpleasant sour notes rule the day. The Burley goes downhill quickly. The flavors at the end are disappointing, yet they are the most memorable flavors this blend has to offer. On a positive note it did smoke cool (non-existent), and everyone liked the room note. However, good or bad, life’s too short for drugstore tobacco. Support your local (or online) tobacconist, and do yourself a favor.

After smoking a whole pouch of this thing, it was simply tasteless. You might wanna try mixing this with another blend e.g. Captain Black Cherry since both of them does not smoke that good.

This might be a good blend for someone who is just beginning to smoke pipes. It is forgiving if it is packed incorrectly, puffed too hard, etc. The vanilla casing is relatively subtle and the leaf used in blending is decent quality. It is extremely mild and it does have a better flavor than most OTC blends such as Prince Albert, Captain Black and the Laynes candied stuff.

Well, I had no intention of trying this tobacco, It was 8:45 at night, and I had classes the next day from 9-4, and I just smoked my last bowl of pipe tobacco, and the local smoke shop that has a decent tobacco selection closed, but it is right next door to a rite aide, so I walked in and saw what they had. They had either captain black royal, or cherry(I can not stand the ghost cherry aromatics leave in my pipe, it makes me gag every time, and captain black royal isnt much better in this regard), and borkum riff regular(as well as the usual bulk pound value bags of god knows what). I paid my price for the borkum riff(because it did have a captain blackish smell, and im a young pipe smoker so naturally I love bland and basic vanilla aromatics). The tobacco itself reminded me of a drier, burley/virginia captain black white. The vanilla creaminess was far less noticable, and it burned a bit on the hot side. The tobacco itself in the pouch was also reminiscent of plug cut chewing tobacco(it felt quite similiar to a brick of day o work if you've ever had the pleasure/displeasure). In terms of simple drugstore aromatics though, its not too bad. Having a pouch of borkum riff regular isnt too shabby if its the only tobacco you have on you, but next time im going to stick to the local tobaccionist times, and hope next school night when i run out I make it to the smoke shop. To conclude, if im in a decent smoke shop, ill pass on the borkum for something better, but if im in the drug store and its next to cherry, ill take the borkum regular, though if your cheap and at a drug store, try to find the prince albert soft vanilla for a similiar concept at half the price.

When I first began smoking a pipe, this was my favorite blend. Now, not so much. But it smelled good, had a decent taste, and was available for purchase at a local drug store. I've found that the quality varies greatly from pouch to pouch, I've purchased maybe 5 pouches total over the years & the first 2-3 were great, but every one since has been really amazingly horrible. I know it's not my palate evolving because I had 2 pouches open at once, one at home & one at work, and the work pouch was truly horrible while the home pouch was quite good.

This is based on the original pouch made by Swedish Match. I have not tried the new version made in Dem=nmark. This is one of Borkum Riff's worse offerings. Way, way over cased, the only detectable taste is the casing insulting your tongue and tastebuds. The room note is overly overwhelming for people around you.

I was once stuck in a part of New York where it was either this or Borkum Riff Whiskey. I chose this, it was so light that it did take some getting used too, however, perserverance pays andin the end I got quite used to it. Needless to say, I was glad to leave that part of NY and find something a little stronger. As an American friend once told me "It beats a poke in the eye with a pointed stick" but only just.

There's vanilla in this stuff???? I sure couldn't taste any. Milder and certainly less harsh than the whiskey flavored crap they package up. It costs too much for what you get. I could have gotten two pouches of SWR for what I paid for this. It can bite easily. I give this two stars because it's better than their whiskey flavored dung.

Update: 2/13/10 Having been in another town visiting my granddaughter I had to pop down to their local store and get some tobacco. All the store carried was this and Whiskey. Having reviewed this tobacco not long ago and finding it not all that bad I chose this. Now I know why so many people complain. I'm not sure if my first pouch of this stuff was new or old or what but the second one was considerably worse than the first one. It was almost harsh and bit me. It tasted more like I'd unrolled a cigarette and stuffed it in my pipe than real pipe tobacco. When I got home I mixed this half and half with Super Value Black Cavendish. It's actually smoke-able now. You see, there really is a use for Super Value tobacco! Maybe if you took all the tobaccos you hate and mixed them all up in a big jar something good would come out of it. Just don't hold your breath. My original review follows: Although up above it says "enhanced with aromatic vanilla" I can not detect any vanilla at all. All I can taste is tobacco and it's not all that bad especially when compared to other blends in this line. I've tried two or three of the others in this brand only to find them horrid at best. Most of the complaints here seem to be that it's too mild or tasteless. I find the strait tobacco taste to be quite pleasing. The tobacco was very dry in the pouch and I could only smell tobacco. Perhaps being so dry is why I could not detect any vanilla. I find this good enough on it's own and will not experiment with adding moisture. If you love strait tobaccos with little or no toppings I suggest you give this a try. I will actually buy more of this in the future The pouch price where I live was $4.69 for 1 1/2 ounces so while it's higher than other cheap tobaccos it's still cheaper than high priced stuff. This is easily the best of the Borkum Riff line I've tried but I have not tried them all yet. I plan to cellar just a bit of this to see how it turns out in a year or so.

It's super mild . Not alot of flavor . Ya want something lite ... this aint it ...it's ultra light for sure. This blend is just sooo mello .Not alot of flavor .

This is one of the worst tobaccos I have ever tasted. In fact I did not even taste it, because it really has no taste. No smell, no nothing. Stay away.

weak, way too mild, not worthy the price, and in Brazil it is quite pricey, about 13 dollars. i still have about 30grams of it and probably will blend it with some roll tobacco to give it at least some taste.

I tried this once. Not going to try again. Basically, while the pouch aroma was nice, the smoke was tasteless and the room note so-so. The tobacco packs easily and burns OK. Just no tobacco taste in there.

This is a Burley based tobacco, blended with Cavendish and chemically top flavored with something they called "vanilla". Pouch aroma/room note is very nice, burley taste is strong, the flavor is not so bad, those who prefer chemical flavor would enjoy this blend since it burn clean and dry in the pipe, doesnt bite at all and will impress ladies around. Overall, not the best drugstore tobacco. but not the worst Either
