Presented in long cut rectangular flakes in the pouch, this "old favourite recreated" will score high points among St.Bruno's fans. Originally made by Ogden, now you can find it loose at Yorkshire tobacconist James Barber. The main difference between this and St.Bruno is that this one is less soapy, you can detect the tobacco flavour very distinctly, especially the sweetness and punch from the Virginia leaf, while the burley serves as a base for the flavouring and contributes to keep the heat low and to regulate the sharpness of the main component. The fruity flavouring isn't overwhelming, on the contrary: you can taste it as a contour, filling the point left blank by the tobaccos and balancing the whole blend (but I must admit I've left the pouch in the cellar for a couple of months: although it was closed, the topping might have dissipated a bit). The nicotine content is high, as you might have expected, but this blend isn't a monster like some Lake District ropes; I'm not suggesting to smoke it in the early morning however!
