| Never one for alcohol solved toppings, I bought this one basically because it is now available in my latitudes, and I am always on the look for something to smoke in between the arrival of my orders from Cupojoes. I was quite surprised by this one. It is a very good tobacco, exactly the same as Radford?s Rum Royale (the tobacco descriptions in the pouch, both in German, are identical). For one thing, in spite of the trade mildness of the brand, this one hardly bites. Secondly, the rum topping is very gentle and discreet. Thirdly, the Burleys, Virginias and other condimental leaf used in the blend are very smooth and well processed.
In the pouch the tobacco is not overly moist, but it comes tightly pressed in small ribbon cut, basically dark and medium browns, with some dark strands thrown in. The aroma is quite muted. Easy to pack, it lights almost immediately and tends to burn softly and, for so mild a tobacco, surprisingly cool. The flavour is amiable and smooth, but care should be taken in the puffing cadence as to avoid a slight tendency to tongue bite. The aroma is pleasant enough not to enrage non smokers, whilst at the same time retaining most of the tobacco characteristics. It takes some time, however, before you really get the feeling of a proper smoke.
All in all not a bad smoke. It is a very nice, slightly aromatic option and I think a good summer smoke.
