Persian Slipper’s name conjures up the spices of the Middle East. This is a mild to medium bodied tobacco with enough complexity to keep it from being bland. The pouch scent would have led me to believe that PS is a full on aromatic. Fortunately, that isn’t the case in the smoke. The unflavored Cavendish adds a bit of body and at first light; the burley leads the show followed closely by the Orientals. The Latakia really is taking more of a back seat on this one. The flavoring provides a nice, steady backdrop to the tobacco flavor. Persian Slipper doesn’t offer the sweetness that would often be associated with a spiced blend. It didn’t leave a ghost in my pipe and while a purist would call this an aromatic, I don’t find the needle moves over to that realm for me. One of the things that I like about Watch City is their fearless pursuit of pushing out the boundaries and Persian Slipper is no exception. Recommended.

I find this oriental/english blend to be a very mild and enjoyable. The cavendish is very light and the virginias give it a slight bit of a tang. The latakia is light but present. I mostly agree with Tantric's review however I prefer WC's N'oreasetr mixture to this blend. Still I recommend this mellow mix although I prefer a bit more taste oomph and strength.

This is not exactly what I expected from the description, but it's still a very good blend. The Orientals and the unsweetened Black Cavendish are very much in evidence to the detriment of the Virginias and whatever Burley there might be. This makes PS a very smooth smoke, with a slightly sweet edge, leaving the Virginias and the Turkish cautiously on the background.

Mild but flavoursome, PS has perhaps more of an American character than an English or Eastern mixture. I see very little resemblance to Dunhill's Early Morning, but taken in its own terms it's a palatable introduction to Virginia/Oriental blends. Room aroma is tolerable. In the pouch there's a leathery-sweet note that differentiates it from most English Oriental blends. It comes at the right moisture level, but the Cavendish does make it slightly difficult to light. A nice experience but I won't be ordering more. I much prefer Justice Mixture.

This's just one a those blends that you need to buy just for it's packaging.(it's got a caricture of the former Iraqi information minister displayed prominately) This is one high quality blend! The oriental and turkish leaf are simply sublime and the burley and cavendish play off them perfectly!Unlike similar blends,Bob's flavor remains true all the way to the bottom of the bowl and never becomes harsh no matter how hard it's pushed. It's similar in character to Samuel Gawith's "Squadron Leader" minus S.L.'S occasional tongue bite.I believe it would also appeal to those who enjoy Dunhill's "EMP" and Pease's "Piccadilly".I would classify this as an english "breakfast blend" and whole heartilly recommend it to lovers of oriental leaf... * * * * prep

* * * * UPDATE 12-2-05 * * * * This has fast become my "go to" morning smoke at least five days a week! I strongly encourage others to try it, as it's 'far and away' the best tobacco of it's type availabe anywhere!..

Baghdad Bob's recently renamed to Persian Slipper - it's a pleasure to write this review since from the first time I smelled this tobacco in the Jar at WatchCity Cigar I've been in love with it. Every ingredient is perfectly balanced and ALL come into play when smoking a bowl. Highly complex, intensely interesting - always leaves me wanting more. A true all day smoke. The latakia and cavendish don't show themselves very well in a smaller [group 3 or less] bowl but boy-oh-boy do they come to center stage in a group 5 bowl. Clearly better in a larger pipe, partly from the expanded flavor you'll experience and partly from the fact that this blend is so darn wonderful you'll just want it to last as long as possible. Wonderful room note and an incredible aftertaste too! I simply have NOTHING bad to say about this tobacco - go get some, you won't regret it.
