I've always been confused on the various Smokers' Haven tobacco shops in Columbus and their relationship. I was most familiar with the Bethel Road's version of this tabac which was a very robust English style blend. Well, that store is now closed and this review is based on the North High Street location's version of this blend.

Whether this blend has any component similarities to the Bethel Road version, there is a unique difference between the aroma of the two. The staff at Smokers' Haven on High explained that a part of this tobacco, maybe Virginia, is aged in casks of apple wood. The closest comparison I can make is to that of a sweet styled chewing tobacco. Whatever the method, it does have a pleasing aroma in the pouch but in no way overwhelms. It first appears to be an aromatic English blend but, upon further investigation, undertones of smoky latakia and possibly Oriental leaf are there (even though Oriental is not listed as a content above).

When lit, one can definitely pick up the English components of this tobacco. Even though the staff seemed to think this was a milder blend, I found the aroma to be on the heavier side and also on the palate but, overall, very pleasing. It smokes cool and dry with few relights needed. I highly doubt this blend has any casing since I find most cased tobaccos eventually give a bad taste in the mouth. This one, even after several months, did not.

Overall, I really like this blend quite a bit, have added it to my rotation and would highly recommend for those wanting a bit of change-up to their regular English style blends.
