Came across this South African blend 50 gram pouch at the mega sized SM Asian shopping mall in Cebu, the Philippines. Possibly the package had been lying in the glass display case for a while whence (a word General MacArthur would use) I discovered the leaf to be parched and in dire need of moisture. I've never been to the R.S.A., but I would say this is probably a commoner type, mass produced blend along the ilk of Middleton's Cherry Mixture in the U.S. or the pleasant Borkum Riff Cherry of old - before all the topping "glop" was gratuitously added. I will probably kick this up a little by adding a couple bunches of moist Paladin Black Cherry; my "go to" condiment to improve the desired cherry taste Aro Addicts like myself crave. Would love to try a couple of the other 1904 blends as this old colonialist line appears to have different flavouring and appeal and a rather compelling history.
