| I never tasted much perique in this, and I question whether any is in it. I think the amount of it depends on how individual batches are made, which I found to be a little inconsistent. It has a certain Stokkebye taste, so maybe some of the Virginias come from that maker. The dark (stoved?) Virginia seems more dominant than the other varieties, dulling out some of the other tastes that ought to be there. It has a grassy, sort-of hay taste with a very light Virginia sweetness. It packs and burns well, and gives a dry smoke with a dry taste. It does needs to be smoked slowly or it can bark at your tongue. Not the worst all day smoke you'll have, but just not the best.
