This is still available, actually. Pipesandcigars.com has it in a 14 oz tub. And this is not legacy stock. It's still being produced. For some reason, only the above website sells it and only in that quantity. Anyway, its the same tobacco and cut as regular 79. The cherry brandy top flavoring is very prevalent and the room note is pleasant. As with regular 79, best when smoked slowly. As slow as you can, in fact, for it can get bitey.

I still have an open pouch of this stuff that is dry as a bone as the day it was first opened. I can't remember where I bought it, some drugstore 15 or more years ago. Last produced in 1980; Amazing that I came across it by chance. Well, same base tobacco it seems as regular Mixture 79 with a slight touch of anise/ licorice similiar to Iwan Ries 3 Star blends(same manufacturer, same toasted burley base tobacco). The cherry brandy flavor isn't a bright and tart cherry but a darker sweet flavor like a that of a raisin. Since it was so dry there wasn't that much aromatic flavor from what I can remember. It perhaps should be on display as a museum piece in the hall of defunct aromatic tobaccos.
