This is essentially the discontinued Lane's TK 6 as someone mentioned. This is an excellent smoke, the cherry casing is very light, the aroma is well accepted. This would be in my estimation among the top 5 of the Straus blends.

The aroma out of the bag is inviting black cherry. The burley gives it just the diversity it needs. Wonderful grey whisps of smoke coat the room with pleasant aroma. A good first smoke, coats a briar bowl well. Miles ahead of Losantiville. Good value. This is a great black cherry aeromatic that still has tobacco taste, people love the aroma.

I was told by the manager of Straus' Lexington store that this blend is Lane's TK-6. I had smoked this mixture years ago, when Straus first opened its Lexington store in the '70s, and remembered it fondly.

I picked up a pouch at Straus' now down-sized Lexington store, and found it worthy of the praise it receives here and under its Lane designation. Though it is sweet, it is not goopy, and while there is some carryover in the pipe, it rarely lasts more than one bowl. I have found that smoking a bowl of Mercantile, then smoking a bowl of Lane's 1Q, which Straus sells as Losantiville, works quite well. The touch of cherry left over by the Mercantile flavors up the 1Q a bit, making the leftovers enjoyable.

This is not a finely balanced English blend, but for what it is, a basic mild aromatic, it is quite good indeed.
