This is one of my favorite aromatics. The tin aroma is a light vanilla spice with fruity herbal notes. This blend lights easily and burns cool and dry. It delivers a creamy smoke with a touch of vanilla sweetness mingled with VA and herbal flavors. The room note is excellent and will be enjoyed by smokers and non-smokers alike. All and all a top notch light aromatic.

upon opening the tin you are greeted with a very interesting vanilla spice aroma.. this aroma is, in fact, the best thing about treasures of ireland galway and in this sense it achieves what i think it sets out to do- it is an aromatic afterall.. however, not much else here to like and the flavor, while not too artificial is hardly pleasing. I feel that the tobacco flavor should be more prominent.. it is very dull and lifeless in the background.. vanilla and herbiness dominates.. almost like a potpourri.. I do not enjoy the smoking characteristics of the blend - it is very very dry right out of the tin.. and for some reason i have had bad luck with tobaccos that come this way , as far as the smoking process is concerned.. it will bite you if you are not careful and it is difficult to find a good way to load it in the pipe as the consistency is so strange. I find that the flavor, while not terrible, is almost like a drugstore blend.. the vanilla almost reminded me of captain black though i will say it is a step above that chemical rich cavendish. I am glad I tried this but I will not buy it again.. and would recommend it only to someone who likes this sort of thing.. but for aromatics I think I would tend to prefer something in the macbaren line..

I think the Leprechauns are still hiding the REAL TREASURES of IRELAND. This was terrible. SKIP IT!

A sound aromatic, subtle hints of Vanilla and fruit, good tobacco background taste. Not too bitey, not too soapy, a hint of campfire and pepper adds to its depth. Worth a try for the aromatic man.

You win some, you lose some. I really want to like Galway - beautiful tin, unique and super-intoxicating tin aroma, fascinating taste, and a promising drool factor. My wife even likes the room note (which is rare, believe you me). But I *never* suffer tongue bite, and the first third of a bowl of this stuff kills my tongue. As the topping burns off, something irritates the back of my throat as well, so it may just be a body-chemistry thing.

The final two-thirds of the bowl reveal the CAO-quality Virginia, and the Cav simmers down to a tolerable, even mellow smoke, but by then my tongue is rough as 60-grit. I tried several different-sized bowls, with minimal success.

It's also very dry in the (brand new) tin, and I prefer moister blends. I'm going to hydrate the rest, let it age awhile, and revisit. Ah, the Gaillimh - a "stony" river. : j

As a relatively new pipe smoker I'm enjoying trying different brands & blends. I suppose I bought this one because the name attracted me as I spend a lot of time in Galway(Great place BTW !) Unfortunately of all the tobaccos I've tried this is the first one I could definitely say I would not buy again.I just found the taste very odd - an almost herbal taste. It's also very very dry,if I hadn't heard the hiss as I opened the tin I would have assumed the seal was broken.Hydrating a piece to try didn't improve matters.

Indeed a very nice tobacco. Black Cavendish and sweet vanilla. Another nice European tobacco which confirms the difference in philosophy. It doesn?t need any drying, and it can be smoked dry till the end, it doesn?t warm up the bowl. Very soft vanilla, you could say that it is bitter vanilla. Generally I don?t like vanilla but here it appears discreet. It is not the perfect tobacco for me but I want to have two boxes to change the flavor from time to time.

This is my favorite tobacco right now. Both of my last two tins have come rather dry but did not need re-hydrating. I love the vanilla aroma that comes out while smoking this tobacco. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an aromatic that isn't super sweet and doesn't burn your tongue.

This blend really hits its strong point after it has had a chance to dry out a bit. The vanilla gets a bit less offensive and compliments the VA's. There is a bit of earthiness that stays in the background but adds a bit of complexity, more so than I am used to in a aromatic. Overall a great blend.

Not an everyday smoke but a sure treat with a stout ale.

Tin came somewhat dry,but this is good for many aromatics.A concoction of black and brown broken strips that packs well. Perfect in a Stanwell calabsh or any Meerschaem, while looking over green pastures. The taste brought forth a myriad of essences.

The original idea for this tobacco, combining vanilla and wild herbs, finds full release in the taste of "Treasures of Ireland: Galway"; that has an intriguing personality. The sweet vanilla goes well with the bitter taste of the herbs, creating a tasteful and never boring bouquet. This tobacco is able to give different sides in the same smoke, making it a very interesting choiche.

Somewhere in Ireland there is a pipesmoker who is going to be very ticked off. CAO needs to steer clear of the Irish tobacco blending tradition, as they aren't doing it any good with this bland cardboard blend.

This is also brand new on the market and I had to add it to the review board..This tobacco is another CAO hit which makes it a 3 for 3 on the new CAO tins that recently came out. This is a very full smoke that fills your mouth full of smoking pleasure. It burns very cool and and has a pleasent roomnote and can add just the right sweetness to any high end collection. This is a perfect after dinner smoke and is def worth it from start to finish. MZMN
