| update: going through my reviews here, i find that i'll have to downgrade a good deal of the praise i've given so many blends. 4 stars should, i feel, be reserved for the blends i find truly exceptional. so, this is downgraded a bit. end update.
nuttyness, pine, damp forest, are the flavours you get from smoking this very economical burley. it is dry tasting, almost cigarish. room note is, i think, somewhere between hashish and cigar... a strong and satisfying smoke, but the very low sugar content (which i believe has been added to the raw tobacco) makes it a bit tough to smoke for virginia addict like me.
first class tobacco, which i may buy once in a while for the variation.

| Normally most people (including yours truly) do not think of Orlik as a company that makes blends in the stouter range - they tend to want to please the mass - but here is a prime example of the opposite, and what the guys in the Danish tobacco industry are capable of doing when they really want to.
Fraser is a stout, smooth and strong pure burley, with nutty sub-notes and with a chocolate-like softness to it (not artificial as in MacBaren's Navy Flake). The leaf is presented as the usual flawless flakes, as is custom for Danish navy cut.
It rubs out perfectly and lights easily. Fraser does not hurt the palate no matter how hard you puff, and most important: It does not get acrid and bitter towards the end of the bowl.
I am not a burley fan at all, I normally stick to heavy Latakias and dark VAs, but this burley is made of pure and unadultered super quality leaf, and it somehow makes the angels sing! Edgeworth Slices is a weak fellow compared to Fraser.
Fraser is available at www.danishpipeshop.com. Highly recommended.
