Anyway, the pouch aroma is what you would expect. The leaf seems a bit brighter in color than your typical Cherry Cavendish Drug Store blend. The packing is nice and it takes a match very well. If you've read the above paragraph, that is the only way my dad would attempt to light a pipe. The first thing to notice is the lack of tongue-bite. The cherry flavor is nice, but not over-powering. There is some real tobacco taste here, as well. I am not saying that this is the end-all and be-all of cherry tobaccos, but it is pretty good for the price. The flavor stays the same all the way down to the last puff. And, there is no metallic after-taste when you are finished. The Nicotine level is pretty low. The ash is, surprisingly, fine and only a little discolored. The pipe is left dry and clean. This is very unlike those typical cherry blends that peiple rightly hate. I have given it 3 stars for the way it accomplishes what it is trying to accomplish. I have had many other higher-class aromatics behave a lot worse. The aroma is one that the ladies will appreciate without you having to give too much up in taste. If you ever find yourself wanting to re-live some smoke from the past, and a lot of us got started with Cherry something, try this blend. Your tongue will not pay the price for your trip down memory lane. And, if you know a younger person that may be interested in trying the sacred weed, keep a half pound of this in a glass jar with a wooden lid. Someone may be writing about you 25 years or more from now!

I do not recommend it at all. It will make your room smell like cherries but It will make your mouth feel like an ashtray.

I tried PS Cherry in a variety of pipe shapes and sizes. All performed without any goop (as I had grown to expect from aromatics) and/or wet dottle in the bottom of the bowl. The taste was pretty pronounced with a definite cherry casing and some florals that played underneath good Virginia quality and Cavendish tobacco. The taste and strength stayed constant throughout every bowl. PS Cherry did have the ability to nip at your tongue if you puffed too vigorously, but all in all, this is a very good tobacco and a better than expected smoke.

Burns hot, tastes like perfume, and hurts my tongue. I now believe in hell, as it is clearly packaged in this unexpectedly vile substance. I have never, ever thrown pipe tobacco away before, as no matter how disappointing, it can always be satisfactorily altered and salvaged by the addition of huge quantities of something else.

Not this.

I recently ordered two ounces of P.S. Cherry, along with several other tobaccos, and when the package arrived, ALL the tobaccos smelled of the P.S. cherry casing. The aroma eminating from the package was that of a sickly sweet cough syrup, which did not bode well. It was but the matter of a few minutes for the other tobaks to clear up, but had the box sat for a week or two unopened, I have my doubts as to whether or not the "marriage" would have dissipated.

I will agree with most of the other reviewers, this lit and burned well. There was not much strength, nor much real tobacco flavor. What flavor there was actually resulted in a horrible after taste. Imagine the most poorly flavored cherry cough syrup you could find and you might come close. The after taste unfortunately hung on until I could get to a toothbrush. As well, the scent clung to my clothes like a wet dog.

Soory, but I can only give it a Not Recommended. I have my doubts that there are any well done cherry tobaks out there.

Update: Still a great cavendish with quality va tobacco shining through the flavoring. Like all cavendishes, it's a bit too mild in flavor and I sometimes end up puffing it too vigorously which leads to heat which leads to bite. If you like cavendish, though, I can't imagine any better than this. Far, far better than the cherry offerings from ALTADIS.

If you like, or would like to like cherry flavored tobaccos, give this a try.

An important thing to note from above is that this is not a goopy black cavendish mixture, but a brown cavendish. It has been _lightly_ sweetened, in the PS style, and the flavoring has been applied with restraint. (American blenders could learn a good deal from the Danes about this!) It is not sticky to the touch. #3 Cherry is definitely #1 natural with an aroma added.

This mixture does not sizzle when lit, a good sign IMO. The tobacco burns well without leaving a goopy dottle at the bottom of the bowl. This needs about the average number of lights for a non-goopy during the course of the bowl. The cherry aroma/flavor does last throughout the bowl (another weakness of black cav-based aromatics).

A note on the cherry flavoring: it actually has a fruity taste/aroma to it, not a cherry cough-syrup taste. It does let the admittedly mild tobacco taste come through.

All in all, another very good mild aromatic from P. Stokkebye, IMO, the best of the aromatic blenders. If you are into such stuff. In my quest for smokable cherry aromatics, this is the best of about a dozen so far, and WAY above the quality of drugstore blends.
