I Am new to pipe smoking however, i must add that i am a complementary therapist and i regularly use essential oils. scent is important to me and i am somewhat sensitive to odours and scents.

This tabac was show to me by my local tabac shop in Newquay cornwall, and i must say i was delighted by the fruity undertones of berries and the back note of vanilla. I am limited as to comparisons as this is my first pipe tabac but i enjoyed the experience and would order this again.

Firstly I just wish to state that I don't smoke many aromatics, I always have an aromatic tobacco in my rotation though for when I get a sweet tooth.

When I smoke an aromatic it's usually a Peterson, but I though I'd try this for a change, as my tobacconist recommended this. I found this quite moist out of the pouch, and it needed some air drying. The first bowl full was not very nice, it gargled far too much, gave me terrible tongue burn, burnt very hot and generally was very over powering.

The second and subsequent bowls have improved though, I smoke it through an old Falcon that I've owned since 1975. Also I now smoke it a lot slower, and sip. If you take your time with this tobacco then it is tolerable and even pleasant at times, but you need to really take your time, almost so the tobacco is going out. Although the taste is quite artificial.

I wouldn't buy this again, but I certainly wouldn't throw it, or pass it on. In future I'm going to stick to my Peterson aromatics.

At last an aromatic I can taste. First sniff smells fruity with vanilla there also, overall aroma fairly strong but not unpleasant.

First puff reminded me of fruit salad or Vimto chews (fruit flavoured chews for those who don't know) then getting down the bowl the flavours are changing slightly but, for me at least, never getting overpowering or sickly sweet.

This is the first aromatic that I have had that has kept both taste and flavour for longer than just the char. I don't know if this has anything to do with me having smoked cigarettes for about 38 years, I've only been smoking the pipe for about 1 year

I have tried a few other aromatics after having read positive reviews and been disappointed that I haven't discerned any of the tastes or flavours that the reviewers were getting so HOORAY for Mac Baren ( no I don't work for them ). Like other's if I had read the reviews first I probably wouldn't have bought it. If you are like me and have a problem detecting flavours and taste in aromatics give the Cube a try, like me you might be pleasantly surprised.

Luckily I purchased this before reading too many reviews, or I might've been discouraged. I'm not terribly experienced with any tobacco, but this is one of the better aromatics I've had. Honestly, I bought this more for the cool box than anything, but the tobacco turned out alright.

Smokes well enough for me; easy to pack, stays lit fairly well, and I've had little tongue bite if any. It's a bit fruity, pleasant room note, etc. Not the best thing I've ever had, but definitely better than a two-star rating. If you don't like aromatics, just enjoy the box or stay away from this completely.

Note, I usually smoke this in my Brigham with the rock maple insert. Perhaps that smooths it out a bit.

Three stars because it's a good tobacco. Mild, sweet, pleasant smoke. Still, I almost gave only 2 stars because it was overpriced. I suppose you pay a few dollars for the cool box.

More time was spent in advertising and packaging than creating a winning tobacco blend. It's a good blend and smokes well, but just not worthy of the hype, packaging and cost. The tobacco does not differentiate itself from the crowd.

This is the first pipe tobacco I have tried and I love it. I have smoked cigars for years, much to the chagrin of my wife who says they smell like old socks, she loved the smell of this though. I found this pleasant, easy to fill and smoke for a beginner. Recommended.

This was a tobacco I tried upon reccomendation from my local tobacconist. Not one to be swayed too much by external opinion, I'd disagree with the numerous negative reviews which this product seems to have brought about.

Allbeit a while since I last smoked this product, my memories are nothing but fond. A lovely room note and a nice complex sweet smoke which doesnt burn the tounge if treated with caution. A manageable strength tobacco which Id reccomend to anyone who is a fan of the sweet.

I may be tempted to purchase another few grams of this in the coming few weeks to see if a little more experience has altered my perception of this product. Until then it will hear nothing but praise from me.

I agree entirely with PokerSmoker and Meerkat. The chief weakness of this stuff is easy to identify. It's blindingly horrible: gimmicky, over the top, hot as hell and comprehensively weird. To my mind, it beggars belief that anyone would smoke this for pleasure. This is a Lenten tobacco: smoke it if you want to meditate on all your sins and punish yourself for them.

"For nearly a quarter of a decade, Henrik Halberg ... has been selecting the ... tobaccos used to craft this outstanding blend." So that's two and a half years, then.

With all respect to aromatic lovers, I can never understand why blenders feel it so necessary to introduce peculiar flavours into natural tobacco. In this case, "peculiar" is the understatement of the decade (or at least a quarter of it). "Objectionable" comes a little nearer to conveying what this rubbish tastes like. Smoke it, and death will lose its sting. Decidedly not recommended.

A wonderful caramel aroma liberally applied to an eclectic mix of tobaccos. Broken flakes, ribbons, shags, burley, virginia, cavendishes, quality and crap.

I think this is just a way to use up all the factory leftovers.

Was sold to me by a tobacconist who claimed that even though this was a highly aromatic, sweet cased tobacco, it smoked cool and dry. He lied.

I'd love to try some other leaf(s) with this topping, as it smells wonderful but I don't think I'll bother trying it in this form again.

I'm never swayed by others rating of a tobacco, but I do read them and so I tried this after reading just about every feeling people could have about one blend. I have had a factory sample for who know's how long. Now that I find out it's no longer made I'll like it. That's generally my luck with things, and so far 1/4 bowl down I do like it, burns cool and has a light flavor with a little sweetness. Produces a nice ash and a large volume of smoke. Reminds me a bit of RLP-6 from Lane, but not as sweet but the side stream has a similar aroma to it. I like the cut of this blend as well it's interesting, I've always liked a cube cut blend for what it's worth. They always seem to burn well for me. I find the difference in our tastes amazing, if you find some give it a try!

There is so much kidology around tobaccos. I say this because once 50grms have been smoked of most tobaccos our taste buds and senses of smell are blocked. As far as room note is concerned most non smokers find all tobaccos offensive and I think this is due to the perceived health treat being in the close proximity of anyone wheedling a lit briar and, or course, smoking in the proximity of anyone is now against the law here in the UK

Getting back to the blend in question. I have tried the occasional bowlful of Cube in the past and found it to be a little too over the top. Due to the recent quality issues currently surrounding Peterson's University Flake, my regular choice, I opted for 50 grms of Cube.

Having endured the first few pipfulls the blend is very agreeable and well mannered. I have found it performs better in a larger briar, say a 5 upwards, as the smaller briars seem to make the taste a little acidic.

The jury is out as to whether I stay with this blend but before reviewing it I recommend, as with any tobacco, a fair trial of at least 50grms

I love aromatics and I'm always keen on new flavors. Here in the EU it's called Cube silver. This is a premium example of how an expensive marketing campaign gets you to buy stuff you know nothing about. They did everything right, a cool name, even more cool packaging and an over the top prize to give the impression that this one must be really something special. This however must be on of the worst tobaccos ever to hit my pipe. The tin smell is not bad at all but once you fire it up it's true face hits you right in your mouth. It stinks and it bites your tongue. First time I was actually really disgusted with a smoke. It's not just bad, it's literally garbage. Since this was far more expensive than your average tobacco, I donated it to my pipe forum. May this donation prevent others from wasting their hard earned cash on a product I wouldn't even smoke if I'd get paid for it. Bad tobacco finally has a name: cube silver.

I'm a newbie pipe smoker, but I'm no stranger to pipe tobacco. Family members were traditional pipe smokers, sadly no longer with us or have succumbed to "giving up the weed". I started the pipe as an attempt to give up my cheap cigarette habit. Now that was a revelation - cured within days. Cigarettes are rank to me now!

I realise there are some serious tobacco connoisseurs here, far be it for me to disagree with current reviews of CUBE. But, I thought I'd come at this from a different angle.

1/ Is this likely to discourage a first time pipe smoker - no. 2/ Is this too strong for a newbie - no 3/ Will the room note and general smell be offensive to others - no

Advantages then. First and foremost, I live under a smoking ban - in all public places. Second I live in a country where smoking is second only to genocidal murder in the public eye.

This tobacco then (I've personally found) is the most singular magnet for women of almost any age. It's appreciated by my peers and offends no one (yet) I can happily smoke this in any company and it's perfume is so intoxicating that I've even smoked it in a pub and it's taken 10 minutes for anyone to realise what was going on! I've lost track of the women (!) and men who have wanted a toke. Coupled with a 9mm charcoal filter (yes I know) this is a revelatory mild and sweet draw to those expecting the "Tarboiler" of their grandparents.

Yes it's like smoking a sweet shop. Yes, a heavy aromatic, Yes, caramels and vanillas and butterscotch. But I've never found it hot or had tongue bite. There is ample nicotine or it wouldn't have cured my cigarette habit.

Innofensive and can be smoked in public. That's mostly where I am! And women love it - what's not to like. Keep the Latakia for home. Or try blending a little of your favourite through CUBE if it's too sickly for you. Want to smoke a pipe and not be run out of town? "CUBE" - job done!

My opinion of this tobacco is this:

Well it reminds me a biscuit with cinnamon - and taste and smell when i opened the pouch and room note, i found this kind strange, but i cant say its bad. Its cool burning and has easy puff. But i doubt i will buy it any time soon. It is just not my type.

Personal rate 5 from 10 as aromatic tobacco.

!Update - The flavoring falls of the ship pretty fast. Going deep on the tobacco taste, it's like smoking cardboard. Dropped one star. It's nice that i got a 40g pouch.

It's a very surprisingly change of pace, perfect for a morning smoke with coffee. The flavoring is unique. Be sure to have a pipe dedicated to it cause it will leave a permanent mark on it.

Cube is an interesting modern style and full aromatic, with a heavy, yet alluring top note of peach brandy/schnapps and butterscotch, erring on the side of toasted marshmallow. It makes an incredibly bold statement in pouch and room note and if you like your cased aromatics to taste like their descriptions, then you might find something in Cube to arrest your attention.

To a degree, the sheer level of casing renders the quality of the leaf rather redundant, with the mixture having a prepensity to smoke a little flat and airy, despite the wealth of tobaccos utilised. You'll be sure to find richer tasting Virginia and Cavendish in other blends, but get to the mid bowl and those Burleys start to pep things up with a welcome appearance. Sidestream and nose is particularly noteworthy, with a fruity sweetness that permeates the room and lingers long.

Cube is way too sweet to smoke all day as the flavouring is pretty intrusive; the tobacco itself largely uninspiring, but it's a nice time-out from more traditional blends, particularly in these summer months. It's certainly not the life-changer Mac Baren marketed it as, but then I'm prepared to tip my hat to them for a marked imagination and effort in trying to create something with modern appeal - a tobacco for the Noughties, if you will. Even if you don't like noveau tobacco, it stands the industry in good stead, and whereas the old blends will always be timeless classics, I welcome consumer choice as a very good thing indeed.

CORRECTION & END NOTE: Contrary to a posting below, Cube IS readily available to purchase in box form in the UK. As was previously mentioned, it's also available for sale as 25g+ loose weight, here in England.
