| This is another great burley blend by Perettis. It seems to me that this Burley is their Blend 333 but with a touch of Latakia. Another great Burey blend!

| I was actually surprised that I liked this one. A very simple recipe of Latakia and cube cut Burley that works well together.It has the 333 essence with just a touch of smokiness from the Latakia. An absolutely wonderful conversational tobacco.3 stars

| Like Peretti?s Cuban Blend, this starts out most unusually: dirty, silty, almost muddy in taste. If the first few puffs are any indication, you?ll panic and spill this out immediately. But if you persist and give it a few moments, the flavors become complex, seductive, chewy even. There?s some type of top dressing applied to the burley which gives it that unmistakably Peretti raisiny, figgy quality. The only downside was that it got a bit bitey near the end of the bowl. A bit like Cuban at first, later like 333, at times like Belmont, this is a complicated mélange of tastes and aromas that demands one?s full concentration, though great, too while enjoying the finest literary masterpieces. I can almost see a group of tweed jacketed Harvard philology professors gathering with lumbermans and bent apples in their mouths toking on this stuff while in subdued conversation. If you ignore the staff?s initial New England stand-offishness and slight Charles Emerson Winchester III type condescension, you can?t help but agree that this venerable Boston institution produces some of the great blends in all tobacciana.

| One need not look far to find Burley cube with added Latakia. If one is fortunate, he or she will find that there are other noticeable tobaccos in the mix because, while I love both Burley and Latakia for their own individual qualities, these do not "play well with others" when left solely to themselves, at least not in Peretti's Blend W. They do, in fact, seem to cancel my favorite qualities of the other. In this blend, in the proportions used, I found MAD--Mutually Assured Destruction. No satisfaction is left standing.
Having "cut my teeth," so to speak, on American English-type blends, the combination of Burley and Latakia can be an unparalleled thrill; try Peretti's D-7485 for example. But in Blend W...the thrill is gone.
I have enormous respect for the House of Peretti; they haven't been around all these years for nothing. Like their Blend 33, I find Blend W to be an interesting and valuable blending tobacco, though unsatisfying when smoked by itself.
For those who MUST have at least a suggestion of Latakia, or for those who want to add smoothness and class to a "drugstore" tobacco, this is an excellent weapon in the arsenal. By itself, however, it leaves me flat.
Two out of four stars...for the quality, alone.

| W is the result of the marriage of Peretti's excellent plug cut Burley, a touch of Virginia, and enough Latakia for you to know it is there. It is indeed smooth, rich, almost creamy, with a nut like flavor. I don't believe there is any casing on this blend. However, I do believe it has some deer tongue in it. Whatever it is, it lends a mild sweetness. I experienced no harshness or bite either.
I love the granulated cut of Peretti's Burley blends. They are easy to pack, easy to smoke, and burn very cool. Just as advertised.
If you are a Burley lover, and you have never tried Latakia, this would make a splendid introduction. This would make a great outdoor blend for when the weather turns cool, and is smokable in the middle of a humid Florida summer (in the evening mind you). A nice ,old fashioned American blend, from a world class tobacco shop.
