Budget green is a light aromatic and does present itself as a flavored tobacco from the moment you open the bag. Very similar to some of the bagged aromatics that Walgreen's sells. You'll taste the tobacco but the added flavorings (whatever they may be), will come through. No bite and not much wet dottle at the bottom of the bowl.

I think aromatic fans will enjoy this offering but it will be off- putting to those who prefer a blend with more of a true tobacco taste.

When my wife placed a phone order with Iwan Ries for some new pipes she was purchasing to give me as Christmas gifts she was talked into purchasing some tobacco and the salesman told her budget green wasn't an aromatic. Well Christmas morning I opened the bag and the aroma on the outside of the heavy plastic bag smelled faintly like Mixture #79 by H Sutliff so I tore the bag open only to discover boy was the salesman extremely wrong this smells like my dreaded nemesis Mixture #79 and tastes equally as bad. I am glad I chose to smoke it in an old cob that was about ready to be tossed because this tobacco like Mixture #79 will ruin new briars and meerschaums, so use caution if you decide to try this tobacco. Upon opening the pouch this tobacco is extremely moist and has that tell tale soapy aroma and taste of Mixture #79. After drying this tobacco out for several hours this stuff still has tongue bite has worse than any MacBaren tobaccos, which everyone says have the worst tongue bite, the best way to describe the tongue bite of this tobacco is it bites like someone put your tongue in a tank of piranhas, then forced you to bite a porcupine, and finished by having you eat a case of broken beer bottles. I would not recommend buying this tobacco unless you enjoy the taste of soap and extreme tongue pain. Iwan Ries is a great shop to purchase pipes and accessories from and even tins when on special but I am sorry to say this but Iwan Ries Budget Green and Mixture #79 by H Sutliff are two of the worst tobaccos made both of which are blended by Altadis Tobacco.
