| This was the very first tobacco I tried as a new pipe-smoker. I LOVED it at first- and I even get somewhat of a nicotine hit from it, even though I generally smoke much stronger tobaccos, like SG&C's Black Irish X. It has a pleasant flavor when you first try it or if you only smoke it occassionally- but after you get used to it, or if you smoke it regularly, the flavor disappears- which, I guess, is why I prefer the tobaccos at the strongest end of the spectrum, which retain their characteristics.
Like many tobaccos, it'll heat up if you smoke at all fast; and will bite you. I did order a second bag of this, as I found myself craving the experience I had with it initially....and after having not smoked it for a month or two, I did initially get that experience...but unfortunately, after a smoke or two, it fades, and you are left with a rather non-descript tobacco which doesn't have the best manners.
I've found that1776/Sterling seem to use the same basic base for many of their tobaccos- which was the case with those of their's which I have tried- and they pretty much all end up tasting the same after a few smokes.
Don't get me wrong- it's quality tobacco- I'd take it over drug-store tobacco any day- and it doesn't have the ostentatiousness of Pease blends- I can still enjoy it as an occasional smoke, but when this bag is gone, I won't be buying it again.
It does hsve a wonderful room note.....more like an aromatic- I don't like aromatics though, so perhaps that is why this just doesn't do it for me.

| Out of All Jack Peterson's blends - this is one takes the crown in the 1765 series with a tie with Tavern (which is a natural Full English - also recommended). The tobacco has to be experienced - but I will try to share my impressions.
First of all - it is a crossover - a tasty medium English blend that has a casing. The casing itself is very tasty - I get a very spicy rum and cola flavoring on the palate. Perhaps with a touch of vanilla too.
The flavorings do not overwhelm this fine English as the Latakia dances in and out of each puff. Wow!
Care must be given to puffing too rapidly as this blend tends to burn on the hot side - and one can get a little bite if one is not too careful. Perhaps it is because of the casing or perhaps I just inhale the stuff when smoking. But with a little restraint this one provides a superb smoke.
So - if you are looking for a crossover with a lot of flavor - give this one a whirl - you will definitely be pleasantly surprised.
