Sillem's |
| Tin Description: |
Golden, red and dark cross-cut Virginia tobaccos present their vivid, charming and fanciful leaves. Brown Cavendish and nutty burley add depth and a light sweet note. This blend is rounded off with a fine smell of fresh, juicy limes and full-bodied maple combined with caramel. A brilliant tobacco, delicious, rich and with every refinement. |

| Okay, so i tried this tobacco for the first time approximately two weeks ago, and have been smoking off and on since then. Tonight i had an early thanksgiving dinner put on by my school (Michigan Tech) and i was in line and decided to get the candied sweet potatoes. As soon as the sweet potato hit my taste buds i instantly thought of sillem's blue. It was a perfect copy cat.
This tobacco is very well done and taste great. However it arrives a little to wet to smoke right away and should be dried out a bit to get the best smoke out of it. The first time i smoked it i had received a mild tongue bite, but haven't experienced it since. Highly recommended.

| The sweetest, most natural tasting and delicious tobacco I've tried in over 50 years of non-heavy pipe smoking. Always mild and flavorful; never disappoints. The leaves are clearly quality too. Smokes best gently, with e.g. a Frank Method fillup. My absolute all-time favorite.

| Very pleasant smoke indeed. The lime flavor does predominate, but the maple is subtly there.
I smoked it slowly and experienced zero bite. Flavorful all the way through the bowl.
Will not be a regular but I plan to keep it on hand as a delightful occasional smoke.
I, for one, prefer it to Sillem's Black.

| I found this to be a very good aromatic, strong overtones of lime ...the maple is in there but i mostly tasted lime throughout the smoke. There was a sweetness to the smoke but i could not identify it as caramel. Burns nice and doesn’t have tongue bite at all. Overall a very enjoyable smoke.

| A wondeful aromatic. High quality tobacco. Lights and burns very easily and stays lit all the way to the bottom of the bowl, burning down to a light grey ash. Wafting hints of caramel interlaced with stronger notes and flavors of maple, and hints of tart apple, lime, and maybe a light dose of spices such as cinnamon. Room note is lightly sweet and pleasant, a mixture of mild vanilla and maple. This is not cloying or chemically in the least. Good flavor consistent with the room note throughout the smoke. Highly enjoyable. No goop or gurgle. And despite some overzealous, enthusiastic puffery on my part which cranked up the operating temperatures on a sweet old, capacious Preben Holm I was absentmindedly abusing for some 40 minutes or better, not even a suggestion of tongue bite. Very impressed.
3 stars! I prefer it to the very good but slightly less interesting Sillem's Green. I look forward to trying Sillem's Black shortly. I'm going to keep this around unless the Black blows it out of the water. Reminiscent of the excellent, slightly richer, smoother, highly recommended Bennington's Connoisseur's Choice #1276, and their Raven #1277 which are both only available from Bennington's in Florida. If you like Sillem's Blue, try those for sure!!! https://www.bocabenningtons.com/items.php?cat=8&name=Bennington%20Premium%20Blends&type_id=101
