| Another beauty from Dan Tobacco's "Hamburger Pfeifentabak" line. The label on my tin must be a leftover because it says "made in Hamburg;" this blend (along with all others by Dan Tobacco) is in fact made about 30 mi. up the Elbe river from Hamburg in Lauenburg.
That changes nothing, though. The leaf comes in a wide, square cut, the mixture being about equal amounts of bright yellow, red, brown and shiny black components. The tin aroma is sweet, with notes of honey and chocolate in it and little spiciness. This blend stuffs easily, but can be overstuffed. Takes to the match nicely and burns down all the way to the ground leaving behind a mottled ash and little else.
The room note is drily sweet with a fresh side note; the taste toastily sweet from the beginning and in the latter half of the pipe, also some spiciness. Not much strength, but still a satisfying smoke to me -- it's one of those rare weeds that manage to make me smile while I puff. This one's a repeater!
