Altadis' English Toffee is a very mild aromatic tobacco. So mild that I give it a 2 star rating rather than a 3. When getting it lit, it bites. I attribute this to the casing, and that may diminish as it ages a bit. Once lit it settles down to being a very tasty smoke, carrying the taste of its flavoring with almost no tobacco taste at all. For some this may be exactly what they're looking for.

For about ¾ of the bowl it does give a very pleasant, tasty, smoke and a pleasant aroma. But the last of the bowl – which is usually my favorite part of an aromatic smoke – when I'm expecting the flavorings to have faded away, leaving me with a final taste of only tobacco, even then the base tobaccos are so mild as to have virtually no flavor at all.

Again, this may be exactly what some smokers are looking for. And the majority of the bowl is tasty enough that I'm not about to throw out what I have and will smoke it til it's gone. This may be a great tobacco for someone just beginning to smoke a pipe for, once it is lit, it will not bite no matter how hard you puff on it, and you don't have to search for the flavor throughout most of the bowl. It presents no problem in the smoking; no gurgle, no goop left in the bowl, stays lit nicely, doesn't offend anyone who isn't looking to be offended. Really not a demanding tobacco to smoke at all.

If the base tobaccos, burley and Virginia, had more flavor of their own I'd give it a 3, but that's just a personal preference of mine.
