Watch City Cigar Viral Vanilla
(3.50)
Our hand blended take on the old standby vanilla blend.
Vanilla is a tough tobacco to get right. We've been tweaking this recipe for a couple of years, and we finally feel comfortable releasing it to the world. Done wrong, it can bite the heck out of your tongue. This is a mixture of normally cool smoking tobaccos: Green River black cavendish, mild wide cut burley and a bit of Carolina flake for an even burn. We use a non alcohol based vanilla flavoring that enhances the tobacco and is very easy on the palate.

The very nutty, earthy, woody, lightly molasses sweet burley is more of a team player than a lead component. The brown sugary black cavendish is the other team mate. There is a smattering of grassy, citrusy Virginia cavendish in the mix as wells. The rich vanilla topping sublimates the tobaccos for a fair degree, but doesn’t drown them out. There also a tangy black cherry essence in the background. Has no chemical or artificial notes. The strength and nic-hit are very mild, while the taste level is mild. No chance of bite or harshness, and has no weak moments. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a very consistent sweet, mildly creamy flavor that translates to the short lived, pleasant after taste. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. The room note is very pleasant. An easy going all day smoke. Three and a half stars.

Hmm... no reviews on this yet - a vanilla aromatic???? Odd, that. Anyway, this looks very much like every Lane's 1Q knockoff you've ever seen. Darker browns predominate. Smells pretty much like the usual thing, too. Needs a bit of drying time as well.
After smoking my two oz sample, the thought I keep coming back to is that, yes, this is essentially what we've all smoked many, many times in different guises. However, it's better. It smokes drier, cleaner, and the vanilla flavor seems much more natural. This blend never required the use of a pipe cleaner to sop up the gunk that most standard vanilla blends produce. It had no chemical taste of any kind, and not even an inkling of one. It tastes like it employs real vanilla and not some artificial vanilla substitute. It reminded me of Boswell's Best but this one struck me as preferable. If I ever get a hankering for any vanilla blend, this is the one I'll pick up. If you're a 1Q fan, try this version. It's just better - all the way around.

The bag note is Burley tobacco forward with a soft, subtle note of vanilla. Reminds me of the deluxe crumb cut. The tobacco is very moist, soft, crumb cut and broken pieces. Very soft. No dry time, packed lightly into a large bowl. Feels very luxurious.
The taste is tobacco forward. Reminds me a lot of other watch city cigars burly blends. The vanilla is there, but in the foreground. It feels like they added vanilla without a lot of sugar. This is sweet, but not goopy aromatic sweet. If you like tobacco flavor but want added vanilla then this it. No bite or harshness. Mouth feel and aftertaste is mild. Stays lite well for being this wet. It also stayed sweet the entire bowl. Nic hit is mild, goes great with coffee. Definitely a go to vanilla blend.

This Aromatic lives up to it's name! No bite, outstanding flavor, incredible tin note. This is the best straight up Vanilla aromatic I have had. I would wear the tin note as a cologne if I could.
