Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Brown Irish Sweet Cherry Cream
(2.00)
Brown Irish, the thicker version of Brown Bogie, is a true old fashioned stout smoke. Perfect with a good strength suited to the more experienced pipe smoker. Flavoured with sweet Cherry cream.
Brown Irish Aniseed - The main feature of this tobacco is the addition of inverted sugars, Cherry and Cream to the 'filter' leaf. This is then spun into a rope form before being made into a roll which is cold-pressed overnight

Gawith Hoggarth - Brown Irish Sweet Cherry Cream.
This arrives in a very thick twist that looks as though it could be quite daunting to prepare. That is however wrong! Although it's thick as I slice the coins they actually begin to crumble as they fall off the rope. It is a little moist but I don't find it that too much of an imposition to smoke it right away. It smells like it's going to be a very sweet and cherry like smoke. It actually smells like candy!
I get my pipe lit and imminently realize that the smell wasn't kidding. This has the taste of the archetypal cherry aro'! Very sweet, very candy like, very cherry and also quite false. It is without doubt a smoke for those with a sweet tooth! I, however have a more savoury pallet so it was a bad choice by me! Now, this has enough nicotine to render an elephant unconscious, so stay away if you smoke only for taste. On to some points that sit better with me, the heat and bite. It gives quite a cool smoke that doesn't bite me at all for the whole bowl. Also it burns even and steady at a pace that's not too quick. The final point is a decent one. It gives a lovely, sweet and cherry like room note.
This isn't horrendous but likewise I don't find it extraordinary. Two stars.
