Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Brown Bogie-Sweet Rum

(4.00)
This is the classic Brown Bogie only with the addition of extra sugars and sweet rum. A medium thickness hand spun twist made from strong Virginia. Compared to the Black, the Brown carries a spicier taste and bigger nicotine hit. The resulting tobacco is ideal for slicing up and smoking in a pipe.

Yeah baby, this one is for men! One of the stronger punchers in the stable, BB with Rum packed power and taste. The rum is actually very noticeable and I thought I tasted sugar as well, but who knows. Not a lot of fun to prepare, but once in the pipe and lit, you are going to be in for a delicious smoke - for as long as you stay conscious anyway. Great job, G&H!

Apr 28, 2020 Very Strong Mild to Medium Very Full Pleasant to Tolerable
The fermented, savory, rugged dark fired and dark air cured Virginias provide a ton of earth, wood, tangy ripe and dried dark fruits, plenty of smoky barbecue, spice, vegetation, floralness, leather, some tangy stewed fruits, herbs, grass, bread, light tart and and tangy citrus, and a few sugar, tea, cigar and sour notes as the lead components. The sugary sweet rum topping mildly sublimates the tobaccos. Very strong and extra full in flavor, the nicotine level is very potent. It won’t bite, but it has a few rough edges, even though the sweet rum tames some of them. It needs some dry time, and a sharp knife to cut it. Well balanced, it burns cool and clean at a plodding pace with a very consistent, boldly deep and rich, mildly complex sweet and savory flavor that translates to the long lingering after taste, and pleasant to tolerable room note. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires a fair number of relights. Not an all day smoke. I suggest a small bowl for this one. Four stars.

I was absolutely delighted with the appearance of this tobacco as started to unravel the coils. This tobacco leaf looks gorgeous, well hydrated and it hits you with a wonderful tin note. And yes, it has this undertone of sweet rum, but it sort of behaves like cigar leaf. Good enough to be smoked on its own, this leaf can also be used to mix with other tobaccos to add a little bit of added flavour or a nicotine punch. The floral/lakeland note is somewhat missing, but the leaf is full of flavour anyway going from strong, as you light up, to stronger, the more you progress with your smoke. Also, it smokes quite cool in your bowl and it is easy to keep lit. Highly recommended, this tobacco is gonna get 4 stars.

Gawith Hoggarth - Brown Bogie-Sweet Rum.

The aroma from this matches the name, sweet and Rummy! At first it's a bit sedated but once the rope has been sliced it becomes easier to discern. The rope is quite sturdy in construction. I at first tried to snip it with scissors but it proved to be too daunting a task for them so I had to use a very sharp blade instead.

The flavour from the smoke is fabulous! Being fairly cool and bite free big puffs can be taken comfortably to really make the most of the delicious Rum addition. Nicotine comes at some weight, it's without doubt not a beginners blend! The room note isn't too strong with Rum. It can be noticed with ease but it doesn't have that over heavy quality that aro's can often have. From the start until the finish the burn is good, it can be enjoyed with only the aid of the odd tamp.

I'm not a massive fan of alcohol based aromatics but this one I love, four stars!
