Paul Olsen-My Own Blend-Vanilla Snow. Oh wow, what a fabulous tobacco! The moment I opened mine up and took a whiff it had me. Many blends are cased with Vanilla and the smell is sweet yet nondescript however the smell from this is one of the truest Vanilla ones I have sampled. The smoke can be described in one word, delicious! Again the Vanilla is very easy to notice and to identify. The Vanilla takes the pole position in the flavour race at first but there is a good spicy/lively note from the Anise and it could maybe be described as having a VERY DELICATE menthol attribution to it. As the bowl burns down the Vanilla begins to get caught up by the Anise and it becomes a fair playing field where both flavours are of equal weight. The tobacco flavours are quite mild in comparison to the topping. I get a very basic tobacco taste but any idiosyncratic traits are somewhat masked by the toppings. Nicotine? Very mild, it really doesn't assuage my cravings! The room note has a good spicy/herby quality to it with a Vanilla note also. This is truly inimitable, it's not at all like the same old Vanilla aromatics. It possibly would be if it weren't for the addition of Anise. That addition really does make this a new breed of Vanilla aromatic. Well it does for me! Four stars.
