This is a wonderful tobacco. I purchased this from "across the pond" about 8 years ago and it went into a jar and I only recently re-discovered it.

These are broad, pliable well-formed flakes - nearly jet black. The aroma in the jar is earthiness, prunes and leather. This is likely steamed and is certainly unlike stoved VAs. The closest comparison I can make is to a middle ground between SG Full Virginia Flake and SG Bracken Flake. Riversmeet is darker in color and far less bright than FVF, and there is no chance of tongue bite with Riversmeet as there can be with FVF. Riversmeet seems to have no added flavoring, the flakes are broader and more intact, and the strength and overall experience is far more moderate and sedate than Bracken Flake.

After some drying, the flake breaks easily and loading requires no special care. Upon lighting, the flavor is of VA albeit subdued, dark and slightly leathery, tinged with only a very slight sweetness. Absolutely no bite, this is a very restful smoke; it burns with a calm cadence, and has a gentle satisfying dark and creamy flavor. There is occasionally the ever-so-slight note of the oily pungency of Black XX, but overall the experience is of the meditative satisfaction of an evenness and calmness - this is gentle on the throat and mind, and the nicotine is quite modest, even when puffed hard. This remains the case to the bottom of the bowl where It burns to a fine ash with no sourness.

This is not like a typical VA - it is not grassy, sweet or bright. It is dark bass earthy tones at a gentle level, making for a very relaxing and satisfying smoke.

McGahey - Riversmeet Flake.

To begin with, these are about the easiest flakes to work with. They're a little moist but because they're so thin they dry off in a very short space of time. And then, if you do like I do, they're as easy anything to crumble.

Although the flakes are slightly built, the colour of them suggests a deep hearty smoke -dark brown, nearly black- and that's the kind of smoke it gives:

Satisfying; that's the one word that springs to mind at the first light and this word is with me throughout a whole bowl. It has very few of the citrus sweet notes of a lighter Virginia but plenty of the deeper characters of something that's maybe got a bit more age on it.

I find the nicotine amount to be perfect: it's not too strong but just above so if/when I want an N-boost it can be gotten with simplicity!

I agree with the description on here: it is indeed a cool smoke. Another positive they could add to it is that it doesn't bite; mind you, everyone varies for that so you can't take my word for it!

Easily scored: four stars.

Highly recommended.
