Sutliff Tobacco Company Coconut Almond #19

(2.33)
Burley and Virginia, coconut and almond. Some things naturally complement one another. This fine blend, inspired by a popular candy, is the perfect example.

This might be a great mixture. Coconut Almond might be noxious swill. I'll never know because I can't taste it. I'm not joking. This mixture has zero taste for me. I can detect a light coconut scent in bag but it Does not translate to the smoke. One of very few mixtures I've run across during decades of pipe smoking with no discernable flavor. Go figure.

Sutliff Tobacco' - Coconut Almond #19.

Quite coarse ribbons, medium brown in colour with just a few lighter specks, and an aroma that's mostly about the coconut; like the smoke. Being from bulk the moisture's decent.

The initial, and final flavour, to me, are coconuts. Any almonds are smothered, the aromatic side is all about the coconuts. The tobaccos are slightly overshadowed by the casing. Yes, they give backbone and substance, but don't expect a grassy-Virginia, or rugged-Burley, experience! Coconut Almond' burns nicely, creating a medium thickness, cool, bite-free, smoke.

Nicotine: above mild. Room-note: nice.

Coconut Almond #19? Not my idea of a go-to, but a decent aromatic! Recommended:

Three stars.

A nice blend. If you are looking for a coconut tone, this may be it. The note clearly has the coconut presence and it smells very natural and not artificial or chemically. I thought it burned nice and the coconut note pulled through throughout the smoke. Has a real nice room note that others will enjoy. Tasted like it smelled and isn't over-the-top in any way. Didn't notice the almond, but I was interested in the coconut note and flavor for a summer aro. It didn't disappoint.

Zero flavor - no detection of coconut or almond. Too bad. Don’t waste your time and I’m a big fan of Sutliff products so I’m not dogging the brand, just the blend.

Wonderful room note but weak in flavor. It always seems to be hit or miss with Sutliff aromatics and this one is just not worth packing the bowl with.

Nice blend, smells of coconut, more so than any almond. Sweet, without any bite. The tobacco itself smells/tastes kinda cigarish, and and has an enjoyable room note. I know this review sounds a bit strange, but its definitely worth a try! ..........A little update on this wonderful blend, I have looked for a long time for a tobacco that tastes and smells as good as the CAO Moontrance cigar (and no, the pipe tobacco smells nothing, and tastes nothing like the cigar) and I believe I have found it! Im really diggin' this stuff, reminds me of sexy women on a warm beach hahahaha, at least thats what I get when I smell it. Folks around you will love the smell of this!!!!!

Coconut Almond has a terrific pouch aroma. Definite smell of coconut, and if you inhale deep enough, you will find the faint almond oil fragrance. Does not smell sickly sweet nor cloying and is not sticky on the fingers when pressed together. Medium to light brown ribbons make up this blend, with a few fairly large chunks of leaf. Moisture level is great, ready to smoke.

I get a good amount of natural tobacco flavor. The coconut isn't overpowering. In fact, it is added perfectly with a light hand. However, the almond is added so light, I personally cannot detect it. The burley adds some nutty and creamy aspects, while the Virginia is slightly sweet and hay like. The flavor stays consistent to the bottom of the bowl. No harsh or rough spots, and not much moisture at the end of the bowl.

A solid 3.5 star aromatic. Great with morning coffee!

This blend alone is simply not strong enough in the taste department to really be enjoyable. However I mixed about two ounces with six ounces of Sutliff buttered rum and what a fantastic taste I received. Sutliff buttered rum has a strong butter flavor and this seemed to bring out the coconut and a bit of almond. Delicious! Sutliff blends are always good but usually not strong in taste. This blend is no different. What taste there is, is good but just not enough there to really enjoy. Alone burns a little hot unless smoked slowly and will give a bit of bite if not careful.

I must be mad for saying this, but I like this blend. I even went as far as purchasing more when my initial supply ran out. To be quite honest, it is the wonderful coconut casing that has made me go bonkers for it. The flavor is spot-on, being neither too light nor too heavy. Not an all day blend, that is for sure. However, it works as an excellent pick-me-up when one wants a go at breaking the melancholy of the usual dailies. Sadly their is still the unmistakable catch-in-your-throat bitter Burley bite from the inferior tobacco used by Sutliff/Ataldis. Still a step above their usual rubbish.
