For myself, I can honestly attest that it seems like I have tried virtually every combination of sweetly infused mixtures under the sun. Yet, every so often one new adventure manages to avail itself and then I am left with a compulsive desire to learn of its nature, given my incurable sweet tooth folly. Granted some of these concoctions have proven to be a bit goofy in makeup, but my friends since it is all in the name of fun, then why not?

There are a couple that I am still anxiously awaiting, nevertheless. Precisely, a succulent strawberry cheesecake wonder or a tart-sweet rhubarb pie, oh boy! Ahem, hint, hint Mr. Sutliff, my good sir. Hey, don’t knock it, as I could be fantasizing over a Perique blend tempered with boiled eggs and beer. Imagine the room note on that one; best to drop your pipe and run! But for now, with curiosity overcoming me once again, by default I settled myself to learn how bananas I would go over this week’s featured selection, the deliciously delightful Sutliff Tobacco’s Bananas & Crème.

As if they were peeling back the skins and skimming through bowls of hefty rich cream with elated culinary joy, Sutliff managed to whip up a singular recipe. This sweet compote combines an immeasurable portion of assorted Burley leaf and Virginian strains smartly mixed with the open-handed inclusion of straightforward Black Cavendish. Targeted as a tasty dessert-like entry by design, Bananas & Creme renders a unique aromatic treat featuring a splendid dosing of you guessed it, yummy banana, and a dainty mingled vanilla.

Upon inspection, I discovered that this mild strength bulk production generously spreads itself liberally, essentially unhampered by not even the slightest degree of orderliness. With a standard piling that is high, deep, and wide, the tobacco displays an astonishing visage of amassed bigness in features. Namely a gnarled, weighty collection of dissimilar shapes and pieces comprise its overall colorfully roughened image. Massive ebon chunks of steamed Black Cavendish, share quarters with large, awkward strands of red gold Virginia, and thin strings of Bright orange, as a densely footed blanket formed by coarse cut shards of brown-toned Burleys stay with considerable prominence.

Sampling the pouch nose, what emerges strongly forward from the bottom depths is an exceptionally bold blast of definitive sour-tart. As this sharp aroma settles, a distinctly smooth tropical banana essence begins to register, pulling with it a garnishing softened nuance of saccharine vanilla. With extended inhaling, one does catch a fine seasoned sweet nuttiness and some pleasing soft tang that seem to be enticing on the periphery of the fragrance. A tad moist, Banana & Crème necessitates a minor period of preparation before reaching an optimum smoking condition.

And now to the actual flavoring. The leading taste is indicative of something much like traditional banana pudding. A banana pudding of the quality that you often get at one of those Golden Corral “eat-em-up” buffets, mind you. In specific, the registration reveals the medium intensity commenting of the applied toppings that are generally true to form, at least for the larger share of the bowl.

Specifically, what actually surfaces is an all too familiar fruity banana flavoring that is modestly tropical and sweet, enhanced with a creamy vanilla underbracing. However, given the natural chemistry of banana’s constitution, there is also a tiny hint of what more or less records as a nail polish-like acetone ambience, which I generally find in banana flavored candies as well. As the main feature of Bananas & Crème’s offering, the effect of this prime creamy fruited annotation is reasonably pleasing. It is in no manner overbearing, yet it does represent the blender’s intended objective sufficiently well, nonetheless.

Regarding the balance of recordable flavor, I must say that the native tobaccos do support the overall experience nicely. Forming the consistent bottom is the earthen spice and sweet oaky woodiness of the Dark Burley. Intertwining with this darker savory note is the injection of some toasty White nuttiness, docile Bright tang, and a pleasant floral sweet wood from the Red Virginian varietal. Finishing up with the trailing accents, a dash of vibrant native zest and sugary remarking from the Cavendish element sends the parting shot of the combined natural appeal. Overall the confluence of toppings to tobacco presents a relaxed and enjoyably balanced aromatic experience that is certain. By experience, I found this particular blend produces a handsome flushing of voluminous smokey clouds that carry the fleeting scent of sugared fruit, and yes, I do mean banana. Mixing with this pleasurable influence is a creamy tangier rendition of that brilliant pipey Burley smell that I find so wonderfully inviting, kudos to that favorable impression. Therefore, it seems plausible that Bananas & Crème’s slightly reposed room magnitude would be well tolerated or by chance imaginatively pleasant.

Looking in the direction of the flashing mechanical scoreboard, although Bananas & Crème can throw a hissing fit while it is actually burning as a result of active de-gassing, I found the tobacco to be quite accommodating with respect to humility upon the palate. Additionally, I feel comfortable scoring a medium rating in relation to the felt nicotine residuals, thus making this blend quite simply a feasible all-day excursion. And openly, as the coatings do tend to marginally migrate away towards the last third of the bowl, the consistency of its flavor, overall, was better than average, again duly noting the pleasing native contribution. Furthermore, Bananas & Crème tends to maintain an amiable performance on the indices of burn temperature and manageable combustion. Finally, my best recommendation is to smoke the tobacco in a basic cob for realizing a more pronounced rendition of the enjoyable aromatic fruit-centric nature. So there you go banana-brain.

You know I wonder, perhaps if I were to mix a portion of this tobacco with a little of Sutliff’s Chocolate Mousse and a dash of Wilke’s Peanut Butter if I could arrive at something that mimics the flavored sensation of a heaped serving of that good Fat Elvis ice cream. Yowzah, I say, a hunk, a hunk of burning love on that one. And with all this talk of sugary sweet delights, if you are not now immediately craving some form of banana-esque comforting then man, you are a much stronger person than my sad self. Or quite possibly, it may be that your biological receptors have left the building. 2.7 Pipes.
