Trying the newer Asuka for the first time...picked up from Japan on a recent trip. If i based my opinion on tin note alone - i may not have put flame to it. The overwhelming punch of fermented plum wine assaults the nose instantly. Could smell nothing else. Very easy to pack...good moisture level and takes a light easily.
I am greated with a velvety smooth light and sweet english blend. There is some presence of latakia and sweet oriental balanced with the virginia. The plum topping isnt able to tasted and serves to bind the leaf varieties into harmony.
This seems a little reminiscent of 5110 or Hadens in that sweeter mild all day english.
Would i stock up on it?....probably not. Will i purchase more if im ever Japan again?.....absolutely! !
