Pulled some out of my celler recently. Loaded up and lit 'er up. I think I lit 'er up. Yep, I lit 'er up - I saw smoke. Whatever I tasted was light. I don't think it was tobacco. I unloaded quickly. I swabbed out my pipe quickly. I begged my pipe for forgiveness quickly. I headed back to my tobacco cellar quickly.

The champagne topping is mild. I got some nuttiness, molasses and earth from the burleys, a little grass from the Virginia, and a mild vanilla from the black cavendish. The tobacco flavors were more obvious in the last quarter of the bowl; not so much at the start. The fruit/berry topping had a little syrupy chemical taste that is distracting. Has almost no nicotine. Burns all right, doesn't bite, and leaves a little moisture at the finish. Needs an average number of relights. The after taste had too much chemical feeling to enjoy; very cloying. An all day smoke.

First off later with all these old reviews that are just not the case for all of you that are reading this review for 2018 and can assure you this blend is actually very good. The cut and mixture of this blend is right on, it is light and fluffy with a wonderful smell of a berry and mild nutty tones with a tangy zing to it. The Virginia is noticeable to the nose and when you smoke it. My favorite thing to do with this blend is sniff it in the jar, its just one of those blends I love smelling but when it comes to smoking it??? Smooth and mildly sweet but consistent that's the main thing it keeps delivering its taste and gives off a well rounded tobacco taste that is smooth and robust the further you make your way down the bowl. Beautiful tobaccos that make for a beautiful eye pleasing blend but taste as good as it looks. I have read many reviews where people are so disappointed it does not taste anything like champagne BUT it is the name not the way its supposed to taste. The tobaccos are of high quality and not goopy, its actually a really good level of moisture and can be dried out to a perfect level in less than 10 minutes. I enjoy it with a cup of black coffee because it goes really good with it and I am sure it would go great with teas as well. It does not bite at all unless you smoke it hot and is very smooth to inhale which is nice for a aromatic, it DOES NOT taste chemically that's a bunch of bull and is not saturated in PG, you actually get a velvety smoke instead of horrible steam. I highly recommend this pipe tobacco blend because its freaking good! If your new to pipe smoking I can assure you this blend is very enjoyable and has a unique and mild taste that is not over powering and delivers a nice tobacco taste to boot. Peter Stokkebye did a great job with this one hands down I give this one two thumbs up. In all fairness every person has different taste buds which is why I do not use fancy words or try to describe pipe tobacco blends in a way that makes one scratch there head when that blend taste nothing like what is being said and makes me question sometimes if the review is actualy legite. It is also not fair when a yuppy pipe smoking snob that lets say only smokes latakia and high grade Virginia's (nothing else) and knowing this is giving a review on a burley or super sweet aromatic and keeps using words like OTC and Drug Store that will just throw off a new pipe smoker and might keep them from smoking a epic pipe tobacco!!! Most of these bad reviews are also done by amateur pipe smokers that have smoked maybe 10-12 different blends and now they are experts BEWARE, a well seasoned pipe smoker will still give a review that is leveled and admit its not there cup of tea but will not knock it by saying pipe yuppy remarks, I'm just sharing this to new pipe smokers so they can actually enjoy the reviews on this website and be able to tell the real reviews from the trendy young yuppy pipe smoking snob reviews, there are many, many great pipe tobacco blends, some are just ok and maybe not the best but for good reasons. I have taken some time to read many reviews and have noticed this trend. You can trust CnS Pipe reviews I promise to tell you the truth as best as I can, thanks for reading this post and keep on sailing the seas of pipe tobacco blends, Over and Out...

To Some It Up V2.0 This is flue cured Virginia's and the Virginia shines right on through, the burley is what gives this blend the nutty taste and keeps it burning just a tad bit slower. There are two different kinds of Cavendish in this one is used for flavor and the other also contributes to the burn rate for a all in all well rounded smoke. It has a light berry topping that is just strong enough to be noticed but does not over power the blend and a slight topping of a hazelnut that I can detect. Berries amd nuts with a Virginia dominate pipe tobacco, that's what your getting and it taste great because it is light but complex enough to make you wonder as it smokes down the bowl. Its made in Europe and is a Danish style aromatic containing no chemicals because they regulate much harsher over there than in the United States. The only thing I recommend is to store it really good because it will dry out on you over time but because of the high grade tobaccos used, it will also age well and become smoother but it will loose its flavor slightly other then that this pipe tobacco is enjoyable and has a interesting taste.

Peter Stokkebye - Champagne (No.35).

The lesser of the three tobaccos is the black Cavendish, with the majority of the blend being medium brown. The smell from the pouch isn't pleasant: it smells a little stale/sour. The moisture's good.

The first few puffs taste quite bitter and stale, like the pouch-note. But after five minutes, I begin to note the berries, and a vanilla flavour; the vanilla being much lighter than the berries. After a while the berry flavour becomes slightly stronger, but is always subordinate to the champagne's sourness; it's a shame it's been included, at all, it just ruins what could be an ok blend. The burn from it's decent enough, and I get no bite.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: not nice.

Not good. One star:

Not recommended.

Mild is the operative word here. There is not much tobacco flavor, although there is some nuttiness from the burley and a slight cirus/hay from the Virginia. The black cavendish is a little musty and thin with a hint of vanilla.

This was easy enough to smoke, but there was not much there for me. The berry topping has a chemical taste. There was no nicotine to speak of.

It is better than not smoking for me, and I will finish the sample. I can't imagine a circumstance where I would get more of this on purpose. I can believe it might appeal to someone who does not get the chemical notes or who wants a berry topping in something with almost no nicotine.

While this is not the first Champagne aromatic I've had (recently dusting off some Dan's Black Velvet), I still can't fathom how the real world bubbly could possibly translate into smoke? The open bag does have a lightly sweet, fresh, fruity, almost clean smell to it that isn't overly potent, and yes, it does a passable job of smelling like Champagne.

The lack of sticky toppings and uniquely refreshing aroma was really getting me excited to pop this cork. The thinly cut ribbon made for a bouncy mix that wads up densely and ignites quickly. The flavoring which wasn't intense to begin with stopped reminded me of Champagne, but did a good job of complementing this very mild blend. It was very easy smoke. Delicate.

I'm going to guess this won't appeal to the masses, as it is a very light Aromatic without much 'real' tobacco taste coming through. I suppose it could be a good introduction to new pipers, or just a smoke for veterans wanting to take a break.

An aromatic should have some aroma. Both the taste and aroma are inconsistent at best. I cannot recommend this blend. The taste is clumpy and not evenly dispersed.

I bought this Stokkebye blend for 2 reasons: it was on sale and I was looking for a non-whiskey aromatic. Upon opening the pouch I knew things would go bad. What an artificial topping! But then I said, what the hell, let's give it a try. So I lit my pipe and confirmed my suspicions, the blend had a horrible flavouring (which was not of champagne or nothing like that). This was the first tobacco i ever threw to the bin.

Champagne is very mild & good for a new comer to pipe smoking,or even the more experience pipester looking for something milder for a change. It's not heavily cased & over done in any way,& to me has no bite at all.Good for a change of pace & very pleasant indeed.I find it doesn't offend in anyway & burn's down nice & cleanly without fuss. 4 out of 4 star's in it's class.

This is a decent aromatic. I wouldn't buy more, but I can't fault it for misrepresenting itself. This is a standard run of the mill aromatic in that it contains virginia, burley and black cavendish; and is heavily topped. It had slightly more body to it than I would expect and perhaps this is due to the burley. It was still a little lighter than I prefer in aromatic blends, so I did tend to puff this one a little harder than I should at times. Fortunately I caught myself doing this as this one will bite with too much careless puffing.

When the tempo is right, the smoker is treated to the essence of champagne and berries. I did not get much underlying tobacco taste, but there was some, and it was more apparent nearing the end of each bowl. Light aromatic smokers should enjoy this one more than I did. All in all, two stars on this PS offering.
