The only tobacco from peretti that disappoints me. A sweet aromatic that has a slghtly artificial taste. Not really bad, just below what I expect from L.J. Peretti.

This is another perfect example of what an American Burly blend can be and should be. Not a boring and tasteless burly, not an overly sweet burley cases in syrup, and not a one dimensional Durga store Burly. Peretti’s is known for their burlys, they were the first to elevate Burly’s beyond thf drug store to world class quality, and Irish Mist is a prime example, my favorite burly, hands down! It had a very unique and ineffable taste and aroma, but I’ll do my best. I’d say it’s similar to drug store Burly’s in that it has some perfume-like qualities to it, but in no way would it be described as “soapy,” just slightly floral. By floral & perfume, I don’t mean roses, I mean it smells and tastes like nature. It smells like a warm spring evening after it rained early in the day and then got sunny before the sun went down. It smells like clean fresh air, the mist from a water fall, that air you smell on a hike when you leave the city (I live in a big city). I know what I’m saying might sound poetic and slightly obtuse but I swear, this is the best description of it. I’m not one to describe things politically the way they describe cigar as in “cigar aficionado“, but this burly, and others by Peretti’s are so unique, these are the best comparisons. Their are hints of mint, but not even close to minty, I wouldn’t like it if it was. It’s just that it has a coolness about the smoke in a similar fashion to mint. It’s also reminiscent of grass and hay, but not like a Virginia Tobacco, (my favorite genres of tobaccos), more like that’s sweet smell of fresh cut grass right after a lawn is mowed times 10! All in all this is a wonderful led by LJ Peretti Co‘s. If you like girly blends at all, then you should absolutely try that. If you’ve ever liked any of the LJ Peretti Co burly blends, whether it be Cuban, blend DD, etc. then you would absolutely love this blend as I do! This blend isn’t nearly as famous as some of their other Burly’s such as Blend 33, blend 100, Cuban, their annual Thanksgiving day blend etc. as it isn’t as old, but don’t discount it for that or any other reason. LJ Peretti Co‘s isn’t one to make another tobacco blend just so they have another tobacco in their catalog, especially a burly, as that’s what they are most famous for, aa they have hundreds. They only add one if it’s unique enough that nothing else is comparable and that it’s good enough to stand up to their 150 year plus reputation! What do they actually talk in case this with. Well I don’t know, your guess is as good as mine. But to me, it doesn’t really matter as it is so wonderful. I have asked Steve, the owner and blender and he says something like “well if I told you, then I’d have to…” he’s an old-school Bostonian, excellent tobacco blender, runs an amazing shop, and I’m thankful that he had his shot exists so we have wonderful blends like this! Don’t sleep on this, this is a quality blend, a great blend, one I would recommend to anyone!

I loved the tin note of this in the store but upon smoking it I found the floral essence a bit over powering of the burly. Perhaps in a cob this may be more to my taste. Taste is such a subjective thing. I think as far as high quality aromatics go this is right there, I just don't like that Lakeland essence.

Now...I don't know if this is the same Irish mist intended by the lister or the last reviewer, but I am referring to a custom Irish Mist blend made in Wisconsin at a place called Tobacco World.

It is a sweet, zesty, tasty tobacco with a very, very pleasant room note. My father's tobacco of choice, it packs incredibly well, lights evenly, and like of the other TW blends, burns to a perfect white ash.

What more do ya need?

Got a 100 grams by post from American friends. It is not for sale in Holland. This is an aromatic, but a real pleasent aromatic. Does not burn on the tongue and my wife asks when I am gonna smoke this again. The taste stays around after smoking in my moustache. Burns to grey ashes and burns very good. An absolute winner for aromatic-fans!
