Yes it is similar to the ubiquitous 1Q. However, I must respectfully disagree with the the reviewer who stated that this is, in fact, nothing more than peretti's name for the famous Lane bulk blend. In fact 432 is much superior in both quality of tobacco and flavor profile. 432 is a richer and creamier smoke with a slightly greater vanilla and coconut sweetness than 1Q without the artificial humectant quality. Indeed, the price is higher than you would ever pay for 1Q. However, I have smoked both in tandem and examined both. 432 is a very, very pleasant and relaxing smoke. Steve and the folks at Peretti's are some of the best tobacco blenders in the world. I smoke both English blends and some aromatics (BTW Peretti's Boston's Best Cavendish is tremendous) but always come back to 432. It also isn't just for new pipesmokers. It actually is okay to appreciate both heavy latakia blends, and, yes, even aromatics. There is much too much snobbery in our hobby...sadly

The fire cured cavendish and bright Virginia provide some toast, a little sugar, honey, citrus and grass. The vanilla and caramel toppings are fairly mild as just a little more than background players, and they as well as the tobaccos are sublimated by the coconut. Has an extremely mild nic-hit. Won’t bite or get harsh. The comparisons to 1-Q may have a little merit (similar base tobaccos, and both blends have caramel and vanilla), but if this is that blend, the addition of coconut turns it into a different product. The taste level is a step closer to medium than it is to mild while the strength level is just shy of that. The tobacco may need a slight dry time. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a smoothly consistent flavor from start to finish. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, and requires a few relights. Has a pleasant, lightly lingering after taste and room note. Almost an all day smoke.

The earlier reviewers who point out the similarities between this blend and the Lane aromatic/Captain Black family are dead on. I haven't smoked more than a single pouch each of Captain Black Royal and White, but I've smoked plenty of Lane's ubiquitous 1-Q and this is markedly similar in just about every respect. It looks like 1-Q, it smells like 1-Q, and it's sticky to the touch like 1-Q.

The flavor profile, however, is slightly different. There is the same vanilla base, but here it's accompanied by something other than chocolate. If it's coconut, so be it. I'm not sure I'd say it was without being told, but knowing that it's supposed to be there is enough for my brain to tell me it is. It smokes much like 1-Q, too. It's a fine cut mix of black and golden Cavendish and with adequate drying it burns beautifully and produces modest quantities of delightfully aromatic smoke. The room note is wonderful.

When I'm in the mood for an aromatic, I find this to be a very nice, though extremely mild smoke. Then again, I would say the exact same thing about 1-Q, a tobacco I also smoke on occasion, especially when I'm physically exhausted and want nothing but a sweet tasting bowl, and a cup of strong, milky tea before sleeping like the dead. Maybe that's the origin of this blend's name. 4-3-2-1-Q, and power down.

I'm not sure I'd recommend this to current 1-Q fans, because they might find they're paying a premium for more of the same. But anyone looking for a pleasant, almost nicotine-free aromatic to smoke when the sweet tooth is aching and who happens to be ordering some of those exceptional Peretti's Burleys, or who is passing through the Boston shop, will find lots to like here.

This blend is Peretti's answer to 1Q. Fire cured and golden cavendish with a vanilla /coconut topping that sitting next to my small stash of 1Q smells and looks identical but contains much better leaf than the lane equivalent. Pleasing room note to eveyone within smelling distance and very mild with no bite. If Captain Black Royal and 1Q are your cup of tea then this blend should be right up your alley minus the humectants.

L.J. peretti 432 is a aromatic blend made of ribbon cut tobbaco with a flavorful taste. It is composed of coconut and vanilla and has a hint of Caramel and citrus with a touch of honey . It as a wonderful all day smoke to new as well as Veteran pipe smokers. Also it is different from 1Q and it's more complex and has more body and very very rich. Burns cool and very soft on the palate. I find that if your looking for a go to blend that want let you down and that is not your run of the mill bland aromatics then this is a blend to try. Leaves a Beautiful room note also and has alot of flavor that you will enjoy. The Men at L.J. Peretti know there blends and I have ordered this blend to keep in my rotation. Remember to smoke it slow as with most aromatics it will bite you a little. It is very rich and creamy and it will please you and those who are around you . A blend for everyone and you will not be disappointed.

I asked the guys at Peretti’s what their most popular aromatic was, and they gave me 432. Or, at least, they said it was 432. Judging by the reviews, I am not sure this is the same tobacco. Mine has no semblance of coconut. Mostly it is a very mildly sweet VA, with some hints of cocoa, as if there was some burley cavendish as well. I also noted hints of anise. I find this to be a pretty unremarkable aromatic. It has a very mild sweetness and tobacco flavor, but other than that, nothing stands out. Definitely an all day tobacco for faint of heart.

Yes indeed it is 1-Q. I was told as much by one of Peretti's employees. PipeLawyer has a YouTube video touting how sublime it is - one of his top three aromatics. Too funny. It does not contain a higher quality leaf. It does contain PG. I am a Bostonian and love Peretti's and their products, however, a spade is a spade - It's 1-Q y'all.

A great blend for the beginner pipe smoker. Light and dry with a good flavor. It was one of my first tobaccos and I remember asking for one of their lighter more aromatic blends. It definitely delivers on both scales. I agree on some of the previous reviews as to the similarities to Captain Black, but I'd say its a couple of steps up in quality. Overall, 432 is a great smoke and definitely one of my favorite aromatic blends.

I agree largely with Young Pipers review.

This blend smokes very light, and sweet and is a great blend for someone starting out pipe smoking. When I packed the first bowl I realized it looked like Capt Black, which is a blend I with which I started smoking pipes. I should note I usually prefer english-balkan-orientals but like to have a nice aromatic on hand for my evening smoke. Blend 432 is a good transition up in quality tobacco from CB, but as far as smoking satisfaction goes I'd say it's a little too light in every catergory: the aromatic flavor, tobacco flavor and nictotine.Very light.

Beautiful mild blend… this is high quality tobacco, smooth, cool, polished. The flavors are subtle, creamy and clean. I can’t find any specific flavor or sweetness, but it’s clearly a refined and carefully crafted taste. It came perfectly humidified, and packs and lights well. This is an all day smoke for beginner to veteran piper.
